The death of a two-year-old British girl who was found trapped in her grandparents’ recliner armchair has been ruled as an accident.

According to The Oxford Mail, the girl was found unresponsive behind an electronic, adjustable reclining armchair, which was against the wall in the living room.

She was taken to hospital by ambulance but pronounced dead about 2pm.

An inquest heard Emaan’s cause of death was listed as “features in keeping with crush asphyxia”.

Senior Coroner Darren Salter said the child’s injuries were “non-specific” but were the result of being “trapped or pinned”.

“It is unclear if the injuries were caused when she was within or under the mechanism of the chair or between the chair and the wall,” he said.

Salter ruled the death as an accident.
