Project Summary

Building on the success of the CTI workshop on Increasing Access to the Benefits of Trade for Indigenous Businesses and Entrepreneurs) held in Seattle in August 2023, this proposal seeks to advance the discussion and promote opportunities for experience sharing to support the growth of trade for Indigenous businesses, in line with the Aotearoa Plan of Action and the Putrajaya Vision 2030. In particular, further discussion of public, private-sector and Indigenous-led interventions could help to further unlock economic opportunities, but more information on good practices is needed. This project will:

-   Organise a hybrid workshop alongside SOM3 to share examples of public policies, Indigenous-led programmes, and business practices that increase access to trade benefits for Indigenous businesses and entrepreneurs. This will build on and complement the workshop on “Increasing Access to the Benefits of Trade for Indigenous Businesses and Entrepreneurs” held on 11 August 2023 in Seattle and respond to written feedback from workshop participants on topics they identified for further exploration.

Capture 2023 and 2024 workshop outcomes in a Report, including experiences and best practices to support Indigenous businesses and entrepreneurs.
