How Much Will It Cost To Stream Your Favorite NFL Team? [2024]

With the NFL’s return for the 2024-2025 season, fans often face a new reality for watching football on TV: Subscribe or skip the game.

While NFL games used to be limited to cable channels, the modern NFL has a number of partnerships with cable networks and streaming platforms. This means you need access to the standard cable channels, plus a Prime, Peacock, and Netflix subscription to catch all the games exclusive to those platforms.

With so many cable and streaming platforms holding broadcast rights to NFL games, fans of nearly every team in the league will need to subscribe to at least one subscription service to watch all of their favorite teams’ games this season.

To find out which fans face the biggest streaming bill this season, our team at All About Cookies analyzed each team’s 2024-2025 NFL TV schedule and found out how many premium games fans of each team will have to pay to watch this season.

The cost of different NFL streaming platforms

The NFL regular season consists of 272 total games, with 41 games exclusively broadcast on streaming platforms or cable networks like ESPN (Monday Night Football). That means 15% of games during the 2024-2025 season require fans to pay to watch them.

ESPN+ will broadcast 18 games this season, the highest number of games among streaming services. These represent the league’s Monday Night Football games, which ESPN has broadcasted on its cable channel since 2006 and simulcasts on ESPN+. Fans who pay existing cable subscriptions should already have access to ESPN, but any cord-cutting NFL fans who want to watch on Monday nights will need a dedicated ESPN+ subscription. 

Prime Video, home to Thursday Night Football, is another service with a monopoly on games played on a certain day of the week. As a result, Prime will broadcast almost as many games as ESPN+, with 16 scheduled for the season.

Four games will air on the NFL’s cable channel (NFL Network) and be simulcast on its streaming service (NFL+), while Netflix debuts as a broadcast partner with a pair of Christmas Day games.

Finally, Peacock is the only place where fans can watch the NFL’s first-ever game played in Brazil, which is also a special Friday night game during the first week of the season.

The cost to watch every NFL Team online

Some NFL fans want to watch as much football as possible regardless of who’s playing, while others mostly just care about games their favorite team is playing in.

To help the second group of fans budget for cable or streaming subscriptions this season, we researched three things:

1. How many cable or streaming-exclusive games each team is playing this season
2. Which platforms those games will be on
3. When in the season those games are scheduled

Using this information, we calculated how much each NFL fan base will pay in subscription costs to catch every game of their squad this year.

At the top of the list are the New York Jets, the only team playing five different "premium" games on cable or streaming-exclusive services. The Jets, seeking redemption from Aaron Rodgers’ Week One injury in 2023, will play:

• Two games on ESPN/ESPN+
• Two games on Prime Video
• One game on NFL Network/NFL+

Jets fans paying for the relevant subscriptions on a per-game basis will have to spend nearly $60 to watch their team, while those opting to pay for season-long subscriptions are looking at more than $130, the highest rate in the league.

For comparison, the average per-game cost among all NFL fans is $29.79, while the season-long average cost is $94.17.

While the Jets’ per-game subscription costs stand alone as the highest in the league, a number of other teams are tied with the Jets when it comes to season-long subs. Fans of the Ravens, Steelers, Texans, Chiefs, and Giants all face the same $131.88 price tag if they want season-long access to every platform their team plays on in 2024.

Fans of every team except one (the Indianapolis Colts) will have to pay for at least one streaming subscription to catch all their favorite side’s games. Luckily for Colts fans, every one of the team’s games is scheduled to be broadcast on free over-the-air broadcast channels this year.

Tips for streaming NFL games this year

Here’s how to make sure you can catch all the games you want to see while staying safe online.

• Set yourself up with a VPN. Virtual private networks (VPNs) can potentially decrease the prices of streaming services when watching your favorite team. Research available streaming VPNs based on your personal preferences.
• Download anti-malware protection. As online streaming can make you vulnerable to internet and privacy issues, it’s important to look into anti-malware software for a more secure streaming experience.
• Keep your passwords secure. Be careful who you grant access to your streaming accounts. Password managers can offer smart features, such as authorized credential cross-sharing and multi-factor authentication.

Methodology

All About Cookies looked at the official 2024-2025 schedule for every NFL team and found how many games each team will play that will be broadcast on premium streaming services.

We then found the current prices of the streaming services on which games will be streamed on and calculated the total amount that fans of each team will have to pay for per-game and full-season subscriptions based on when and how often their team plays on each platform.

Broadcast platforms for a number of games in the final two weeks of the season have not yet been announced, so data for those games is not included here.

Only games for which a subscription is required for most people in the country to watch were counted. That means that games that can be watched on a streaming service but are also available on a free over-the-air broadcast channel (e.g., CBS games that are also on Paramount+ or NBC games on Peacock) were not included in these calculations.

Games simulcast on cable channels such as ESPN and NFL Network were included, however, as there is no free alternative to watching those games. Fans would need either a paid streaming service subscription or a paid cable subscription. While cable subscribers are likely to have access to ESPN and NFL Network through their cable package, games on those channels still come with a price tag in the form of a monthly cable bill. As cable prices vary based on the provider and package a subscriber chooses, the costs for the dedicated streaming platforms for ESPN (ESPN+) and the NFL Network (NFL+) were used throughout these calculations to keep costs uniform.

Prices for streaming services are accurate as of August 2024. Per-game costs are based on what it would cost to purchase a one-month subscription for the month when each game occurs, while season-long costs are based on the amount it would cost to subscribe to each service where at least one team game is being broadcast for the entire season (approximately four months).
