Abstract:
The moments of the charge distributions obtained by the analysis of electron-scattering data are examined in $^3$H and $^3$He. It is shown that the experimental form-factors are well explained, but the values of the moments of the charge distributions are not determined uniquly by the present analyses.

We present a theoretical study of resonance lifetimes in a two-component three-body system, specifically examining the decay of three-body resonances into a deep dimer and an unbound particle. Utilising the Gaussian expansion method together with the complex scaling method, we obtain the widths of these resonances from first principles. We focus on mass ratios in the typical range for mixtures of ultracold atoms and reveal an intriguing dependence of the resonance widths on the mass ratio: as the mass ratio increases, the widths exhibit oscillations on top of an overall decreasing trend. In particular, for some mass ratios the resonance width vanishes, implying that the resonance becomes in fact stable. Notably, near the mass ratio for Caesium-Lithium mixtures, we obtain nearly vanishing widths of the resonances which validates to treat them in the bound-state approximation. In addition, we perform our analysis of the resonance widths in both one and three dimensions and find a qualitatively similar dependence on the mass ratio.

A Skyrme-type effective potential is determined to describe the interaction between $Λ$ hyperons in nuclear medium. Experimental data of the binding energies of the double-$Λ$ ($ΛΛ$) nuclei with mass numbers $A=10$--$13$ are used to fit the parameters of the $ΛΛ$ interaction. As a result of the fitting, we obtain eight different sets of the $ΛΛ$ interaction parameters, which reproduces the input data within 5\% deviation from the experimental data on average. The eight $ΛΛ$ interactions are plugged in the calculation of the heavier $ΛΛ$ nuclei and the neutron star equation of state to explore the issue of hyperon puzzle. We found that the $ΛΛ$ interaction, specifically, p-wave interaction makes the equation of state stiff enough that the maximum mass of the neutron star can be as large as, or above $2\;M_\odot$.

Central and tensor forces induced by OPE between two light quarks are considered. Our results show that $I(J^P)=0(1^+)$ compact bound states are shifted up because of the repulsive central force between $\bar{q}\bar{q}$. This effect possibly leads to the small binding energy in $T_{cc}$. In addition, a $I(J^P)=1(1^+)$ resonant state is reported with $ E=10641 \ \rm{MeV},Γ=15 \ \rm{MeV}$ and $ E=10640 \ \rm{MeV},Γ=15 \ \rm{MeV}$, without and with including OPE potential, respectively. The repulsive central force and attractive tensor force almost cancel with each other and leave a small energy difference when OPE potential is included.

The net-proton rapidity distributions of the individual fragments exhibit a scaling behaviour similar to limiting fragmentation (LF) that is related to geometric scaling in the colour-glass condensate (CGC) and depends upon the gluon saturation scale. Forward-angle net-proton data at energies reached at the LHC are required to verify the prediction.

The fundamental question is how the hyperon plays a role in the nuclear structure. It is of particular importance, especially in the light mass region, to verify the structure change when $Λ$ particle(s) is added to normal nuclei. The ground state of $^{8}$Be has been know to have a well-developed $α$--$α$ cluster structure, whereasn$^{12}$C has a mixed structure of three $α$ clusters and $jj$-coupling shell model, where $α$ clusters are partially broken. Adding $Λ$ particle(s) could induce the structure change. We compare the Be and C cases. Using the antisymmetrized quasi-cluster model (AQCM), the $α$-cluster states and $jj$-coupling shell-model states of $^8$Be and $^{12}$C are prepared on the same footing, and we add $Λ$ particles. The cluster-shell competition in the ground state can be well described with this model. Using AQCM, we calculate $^8$Be, $^{9}_Λ$Be, $^{10}_{ΛΛ}$Be, $^{12}$C, $^{13}_Λ$C, and $^{14}_{ΛΛ}$C. By adding one or two $Λ$ particle(s), the ground state of $^{12}$C approaches the $jj$-coupling shell model side. On the other hand, in the Be case, although the $Λ$ particle(s) shrinks the $α$--$α$ distance, the breaking effect of the cluster structure is rather limited. The spin-orbit interaction is the driving force of breaking the $α$ clusters, and whether the glue-like effect of $Λ$ particle(s) attracts the cluster inside the range of this interaction is crucial. In $^{14}_{ΛΛ}$C, the breaking of $α$ clusters in $^{12}$C is much enhanced by the addition of the $Λ$ particles than the case of free $^{12}$C. We also found that breaking $α$ clusters in the ground state of $^{14}_{ΛΛ}$C affects the excited state with the pure cluster structure.

By using the Gaussian expansion method (GEM) with the state-of-the-art $ΞN$ potential obtained from lattice QCD calculations, it is found that $ΞNαα$ has spin-doublet bound states with $J^π={1^-}$ and $2^-$ in both isospin triplet and singlet channels. The inversion of the $1^-$-$2^-$ spin-doublet between the iso-triplet and the iso-singlet is found to be strongly correlated with the relative strengths of the $ΞN$ interaction in the $^{11}{\rm S}_0, ^{13}{\rm S}_1,^{31}{\rm S}_0$ and $^{33}{\rm S}_1$ channels. The $(K^-, K^+)$ and $(K^-,K^0)$ reactions on the $^{10}$B target are proposed to produce those bound states.

We explore the description of the bound $^{19}$B isotope in terms of a $^{17}$B+n+n three-body system where the two-body subsystems $^{17}$B+n and neutron-neutron (nn) have virtual states close to the continuum. Dimensionless scaling functions for the root-mean-square (rms) radii are defined and studied for different parameters of the neutron-core potential and considering three different models for neutron-neutron interaction. The scaling functions for the radii are rooted on the universal behavior of three-body systems close to the Efimov limit and depend only on dimensionless quantities formed by the two-neutron separation energies and scattering lengths. Our results show in practice the model independence of these scaling functions close to unitarity. We provide an estimation of the different rms relative separation distances between the constituents, as well as of the proton and matter radii.

The variational Gaussian Expansion Method is used to solve the 5-body Schrödinger equation, while the resonant state parameters were estimated by means of the stabilization method. We have not found any sign of a narrow low energy resonance in the vicinity of $^3$H+4n threshold. However, we have identified a very broad structure at $E_R\approx 9$ MeV above this threshold, which corresponds to the $^7$H J$^π$=1/2$^+$ ground state. In the vicinity of this state, we have also identified a broad structure corresponding to the ground state of $^6$H isotope with quantum numbers $J^π=2^-$.

We study the energy spectra of $Ξ$ hypernuclei $^{15}_Ξ$C and $^{12}_Ξ$Be with a relativistic mean field (RMF) model with meson exchange $ΞN$ interactions. The RMF parameters are optimized to reproduce the average energy of KINKA and IRRAWADDY events for the ground state and also the average energy of KISO and IBUKI events for the excited state in $^{15}_Ξ$C. The potential depth of average $ΞN$ mean field potential is found to be about $-12$ MeV in the nuclear matter limit. We further introduce the two-body $s$- and $p$-wave interactions between valence nucleons and $Ξ$ particle. We found that the $s$-wave interaction deduced from the HAL LQCD results is rather weak to obtain the energy difference between IRRAWADDY and KINKA events. The $p$-wave interaction is added and fitted to reproduce the energy difference. The resulting interaction together with the $s$-wave one gives a reasonable energy simultanously for the IBUKI event as an excited $Ξ_p$ state. The model is further applied to predict the energy spectrum of $^{12}_Ξ$Be.

We investigate the properties of $Λ$ hyperon in $Λ$-hypernuclei using an effective nuclear density functional theory which is based on the low-energy effective field theory. It expands the energy density in the power of Fermi momentum, and consequently has multiple density dependence for the effective many-body interactions. Starting from the effective density functional for nucleons, we determine the parameters for the two- and many-body $Λ$-$N$ interactions added to the nucleon energy density functional by fitting to $Λ$-hypernuclear data. The experimental data consist of the energy levels of a $Λ$ hyperon in the $p$-, and $d$-states as well as $s$-state of $Λ$-hypernuclei in the mass range from $_Λ^{16}$O to $_Λ^{208}$Pb. The results turn out to properly explain the data relevant to hypernuclei owing to the effective many-body interaction apart from a few data in light hypernuclei. This hyperon functional is applied to study the $Λ$ hyperon binding energy of the neutron-rich $^{124-136}_Λ$Sn isotopes which are under consideration for the measurement at J-PARC. Our results are shown to be insensitive to the density dependence of symmetry energy. We also examine the nuclear matter including $Λ$ hyperon. We note that the hyperon threshold density depends on the nuclear matter properties.

Spectrum of the doubly heavy tetraquarks, $bb\bar q\bar q$, is studied in a constituent quark model. Four-body problem is solved in a variational method where the real scaling technique is used to identify resonant states above the fall-apart decay thresholds. In addition to the two bound states that were reported in the previous study we have found several narrow resonant states above the $BB^*$ and $B^*B^*$ thresholds. Their structures are studied and are interpreted by the quark dynamics. A narrow resonance with spin-parity $J^P=1^+$ is found to be a mixed state of a compact tetraquark and a $B^*B^*$ scattering state. This is driven by a strong color Coulombic attraction between the $bb$ quarks. Negative-parity excited resonances with $J^P=0^-$, $1^-$ and $2^-$ form a triplet under the heavy-quark spin symmetry. It turns out that they share a similar structure to the $λ$-mode of a singly heavy baryon as a result of the strongly attractive correlation for the doubly heavy diquark.

We evaluate the contribution of the CP violating gluon chromo-electric dipole moment (the so-called Weinberg operator, denoted as $w$) to the electric dipole moment (EDM) of nucleons in the nonrelativistic quark model. The CP-odd interquark potential is modeled by the perturbative one-loop level gluon exchange generated by the Weinberg operator with massive quarks and gluons. The nucleon EDM is obtained by solving the nonrelativistic Schrödinger equation of the three-quark system using the Gaussian expansion method. It is found that the resulting nucleon EDM, which may reasonably be considered as the irreducible contribution, is smaller than the one obtained after $γ_5$-rotating the anomalous magnetic moment using the CP-odd mass calculated with QCD sum rules. We estimate the total contribution to be $d_n = w \times 20 \, e \, {\rm MeV}$ and $d_p = - w \times 18 \, e \, {\rm MeV}$ with 60% of theoretical uncertainty.

The calculated $Λ$ binding energies agree well with the available experiment data. We found halo structure in the hyperon $1p$-state with extended wave function beyond nuclear surface in the light C and B isotopes. We also found the enhanced electric dipole transition between $1p$- and $1s$-hyperon states, which could be the evidence for this hyperon halo structure.

Abstract:
Both unitary chiral theories and lattice QCD simulations show that the $DK$ interaction is attractive and can form a bound state, namely, $D^*_{s0}(2317)$. Both unitary chiral theories and lattice QCD simulations show that the $DK$ interaction is attractive and can form a bound state, namely, $D^*_{s0}(2317)$. Assuming the validity of the heavy antiquark-diquark symmetry (HADS), the $Ξ_{cc}\bar{K}$ interaction is the same as the $DK$ interaction, which implies the existence of a $Ξ_{cc}\bar{K}$ bound state with a binding energy of $49-64$ MeV. In this work, we study whether a $Ξ_{cc}Ξ_{cc}\bar{K}$ three-body system binds. The $Ξ_{cc}Ξ_{cc}$ interaction is described by exchanging $π$, $σ$, $ρ$, and $ω$ mesons, with the corresponding couplings related to those of the $NN$ interaction via the quark model. We indeed find a $Ξ_{cc}Ξ_{cc}\bar{K}$ bound state, with quantum numbers $J^P=0^-$, $I=\frac{1}{2}$, $S=1$ and $C=4$, and a binding energy of $80-118$ MeV. It is interesting to note that this system is very similar to the well-known $NN\bar{K}$ system, which has been studied extensively both theoretically and experimentally. Within the same framework, we show the existence of a $NN\bar{K}$ state with a binding energy of $35-43$ MeV, consistent with the results of other theoretical works and experimental data, which serves as a consistency check on the predicted $Ξ_{cc}Ξ_{cc}\bar{K}$ bound state.

Although the two $ΞN$ potentials have significantly different isospin ($T$) and spin ($S$) dependence, the $NNNΞ$ system with quantum numbers $(T=0, J^π=1^+$) appears to be bound (one deep for Nijmegen and one shallow for HAL QCD) below the $^3{\rm H}$/$^3{\rm He}+Ξ$ threshold. The $DK$ interaction is strong enough to form a bound state, the $D_{s0}^*(2317)$. This in turn begs the question of whether there are bound states composed of several charmed mesons and a kaon. Previous calculations indicate that the three-body $DDK$ system is probably bound, where the quantum numbers are $J^P = 0^{-}$, $I=\tfrac{1}{2}$, $S = 1$ and $C = 2$. The minimum quark content of this state is $cc\bar{q}\bar{s}$ with $q=u,d$, which means that, if discovered, it will be an explicitly exotic tetraquark. In the present work. we apply the Gaussian Expansion Method to study the $DDDK$ system and show that it binds as well. The existence of these three and four body states is rather robust with respect to the $DD$ interaction and subleading (chiral) corrections to the $DK$ interaction. If these states exist, it is quite likely that their heavy quark symmetry counterparts exist as well. These three-body $DDK$ and four-body $DDDK$ molecular states could be viewed as counterparts of atomic nuclei, which are clusters of nucleons bound by the residual strong force, or chemical molecules, which are clusters of atoms bound by the residual electromagnetic interaction.

The universal properties of charged particles are modified by the presence of a long-range Coulomb interaction. We investigate the modification of Efimov universality as a function of the Coulomb strength using the Gaussian expansion method. The resonant short-range interaction is described by Gaussian potentials to which a Coulomb potential is added. We calculate binding energies and root mean square radii for the three- and four-body systems of charged particles and present our results in a generalised Efimov plot. We find that universal features can still be discerned for weak Coulomb interaction, but break down for strong Coulomb interaction. The root-mean-square radius plateaus at increasingly smaller values for strong Coulomb interaction and the probablity distributions of the states become more concentrated inside the Coulomb barrier. As an example, we apply our universal model to nuclei with an alpha-cluster substructure. Our results point to strong non-universal contributions in that sector.

It is found that the effect of the Pauli exclusion principle is not important intermediate $S=-1$ state, and that the result is consistent with the EDM of $^9$Be calculated with the $|ΔS|=1$ interactions as a perturbation without considering the nucleus-hypernucleus mixing. Our result suggests that the effect of the $|ΔS|=1$ interactions is neither suppressed nor enhanced in nuclei, if the difference of binding energies between the nucleus and the hypernucleus is small compared to the hyperon-nucleon mass difference.

Showing examples in our published papers, we explain i) high accuracy of GEM calculations and its reason, ii) wide applicability of GEM and iii) successful predictions by GEM calculations before measurements. GEM was proposed 30 years ago and has been applied to a variety of subjects. To solve few-body Schroedinger equations accurately, use is made of the Rayleigh-Ritz variational method for bound states, the complex-scaling method for resonant states and the Kohn-type variational principle to S-matrix for scattering states. The total wave function is expanded in terms of few-body Gaussian basis functions spanned over all the sets of rearrangement Jacobi coordinates. Gaussians with ranges in geometric progression work very well both for short-range and long-range behavior of the few-body wave functions. Use of Gaussians with complex ranges gives much more accurate solution when the wave function has many oscillations.

We investigate structure of $^{13}_Λ{\rm C}$ and discuss the difference and similarity between the structures of $^{12}{\rm C}$ and $^{13}_Λ{\rm C}$ by answering the questions if the linear-chain and gaslike cluster states, which are proposed to appear in $^{12}{\rm C}$, survives, or new structure states appear or not. We introduce a microscopic cluster model called, Hyper-Tohsaki-Horiuchi-Schuck-Röpke (H-THSR) wave function, which is an extended version of the THSR wave function so as to describe $Λ$ hypernuclei. We obtained two bound states and two resonance (quasi-bound) states for $J^π=0^+$ in $^{13}_Λ{\rm C}$, corresponding to the four $0^+$ states in $^{12}{\rm C}$. However, the inversion of level ordering between the spectra of $^{12}{\rm C}$ and $^{13}_Λ{\rm C}$, i.e. that the $0_3^+$ and $0_4^+$ states in $^{13}_Λ{\rm C}$ correspond to the $0_4^+$ and $0_3^+$ states in $^{12}{\rm C}$, respectively, is shown to occur. The additional $Λ$ particle reduces sizes of the $0_2^+$ and $0_3^+$ states in $^{13}_Λ{\rm C}$ very much, but the shrinkage of the $0_4^+$ state is only a half of the other states. In conclusion, the Hoyle state becomes quite a compact object with ${^{9}_Λ{\rm Be}}+α$ configuration in $^{13}_Λ{\rm C}$ and is no more gaslike state composed of the $3α$ clusters. Instead, the $0_4^+$ state in $^{13}_Λ{\rm C}$, coming from the $^{12}{\rm C}(0_3^+)$ state, appears as a gaslike state composed of $α+α+^{5}_Λ{\rm He}$ configuration, i.e. the Hoyle analog state. A linear-chain state in a $Λ$ hypernucleus is for the first time predicted to exist as the $0_3^+$ state in $^{13}_Λ{\rm C}$ with more shrunk arrangement of the $3α$ clusters along $z$-axis than the $3α$ linear-chain configuration realized in the $^{12}{\rm C}(0_4^+)$ state.

We calculate the universal spectrum of trimer and tetramer states in heteronuclear mixtures of ultracold atoms with different masses in the vicinity of the heavy-light dimer threshold. To extract the energies, we solve the three- and four-body problem for simple two- and three-body potentials tuned to the universal region using the Gaussian expansion method. We focus on the case of one light particle of mass $m$ and two or three heavy bosons of mass $M$ with resonant heavy-light interactions. We find that trimer and tetramer cross into the heavy-light dimer threshold at almost the same point and that as the mass ratio $M/m$ decreases, the distance between the thresholds for trimer and tetramer states becomes smaller. We also comment on the possibility of observing exotic three-body states consisting of a dimer and two atoms in this region and compare with previous work.

The Efimov effect in heteronuclear cold atomic systems is experimentally more easily accessible than the Efimov effect for identical atoms, because of the potentially smaller scaling factor. We focus on the case of two or three heavy identical bosons and another atom. The former case was recently observed in a mixture of 133Cs and 6Li atoms. We employ the Gaussian Expansion Method as developed by Hiyama, Kino et al.. This is a variational method that uses Gaussians that are distributed geometrically over a chosen range. Supplemental calculations are performed using the Skorniakov-Ter-Martirosian equation. Blume et al. previously investigated the scaling properties of heteronuclear systems in the unitary limit and at the three-body breakup threshold. We have completed this picture by calculating the behaviour on the positive scattering length side of the Efimov plot, focussing on the dimer threshold.

Motivated by the recently observed hypernucleus (Kiso event) $^{15}_Ξ$C ($^{14}$N$+Ξ^-$), we identify the state of this system theoretically within the framework of the relativistic-mean-field and Skyrme-Hartree-Fock models. The $ΞN$ interactions are constructed to reproduce the two possibly observed $Ξ^-$ removal energies, $4.38\pm 0.25$ MeV or $1.11\pm 0.25$ MeV. The present result is preferable to be $^{14}{\rm N}({\rm g.s.})+Ξ^-(1p)$, corresponding to the latter value.

Abstract:
Tetraneutron ($^4n$) has come back in the limelight, because of recent observation of a candidate resonant state at RIBF. The sensitivity of Λ single-particle energies to the nuclear core structure is explored. Special attention is paid to the effect of spin-orbit ΛN interaction on the energy splitting of the Λ single particle levels 0p3/2 and 0p1/2. In particular, we analyze the contribution of the symmetric (SLS) and the anti-symmetric (ALS) spin-orbit terms to the energy splitting. We give qualitative predictions for the calculated hypernuclei.

We consider the theoretical possibility to generate a narrow resonance in the four neutron system as suggested by a recent experimental result. To that end, a phenomenological $T=3/2$ three neutron force is introduced, in addition to a realistic $NN$ interaction. We inquire what should be the strength of the $3n$ force in order to generate such a resonance. The reliability of the three-neutron force in the $T=3/2$ channel is exmined, by analyzing its consistency with the low-lying $T=1$ states of $^4$H, $^4$He and $^4$Li and the $^3{\rm H} + n$ scattering.
The {\it ab initio} solution of the $4n$ Schrödinger equation is obtained using the complex scaling method with boundary conditions appropiate to the four-body resonances. We find that in order to generate narrow $4n$ resonant states a remarkably attractive $3N$ force in the $T=3/2$ channel is required.

We calculate for the first time the electric dipole moment (EDM) of $^{13}$C generated by the isovector CP-odd pion exchange nuclear force in the $α$-cluster model, which describes well the structures of low lying states of the $^{13}$C nucleus. The linear dependence of the EDM of $^{13}$C on the neutron EDM and the isovector CP-odd nuclear coupling is found to be $d_{^{13}{\rm C}} = -0.33 d_n - 0.0020 \bar G_π^{(1)}$. The linear enhancement factor of the CP-odd nuclear coupling is smaller than that of the deuteron, due to the difference of the structure between the $1/2^-_1$ state and the opposite parity ($1/2^+$) states. We clarify the role of the structure played in the enhancement of the EDM. This result provides good guiding principles to search for other nuclei with large enhancement factor. We also mention the role of the EDM of $^{13}$C in determining the new physics beyond the standard model.

We investigate the effects of the odd-state part of bare $ΛΛ$ interactions on the structure of neutron stars (NSs) by constructing equations of state (EOSs) for uniform nuclear matter containing $Λ$ and $Σ^-$ hyperons with use of the cluster variational method. The isoscalar part of the Argonne v18 two-nucleon potential and the Urbana IX three-nucleon potential are employed as the interactions between nucleons, whereas, as the bare $ΛN$ and even-state $ΛΛ$ interactions, two-body central potentials that are determined so as to reproduce the experimental data on single- and double-$Λ$ hypernuclei are adopted. In addition, the $Σ^- N$ interaction is constructed so as to reproduce the empirical single-particle potential of $Σ^-$ in symmetric nuclear matter. Since the odd-state part of the $ΛΛ$ interaction is not known owing to lack of experimental data, we construct four EOSs of hyperonic nuclear matter, each with a different odd-state part of the $ΛΛ$ interaction. The EOS obtained for NS matter becomes stiffer as the odd-state $ΛΛ$ interaction becomes more repulsive, and correspondingly the maximum mass of NSs increases. It is interesting that the onset density of $Σ^-$ depends strongly on the repulsion of the odd-state $ΛΛ$ interaction. Furthermore, we take into account the three-baryon repulsive force to obtain results that are consistent with observational data on heavy NSs.

We discuss the results of the heavy-quark potential from the instanton vacuum. We finally solve the nonrelativistic two-body problem, associating with the heavy-quark potential from the instanton vacuum. The instanton effects on the quarkonia spectra are marginal but are required for quantitative description of the spectra.

We calculate for the first time the electric dipole moment (EDM) of the deuteron, $^3$H, and $^3$He nuclei generated by the one-meson exchange CP-odd nuclear force in the standard model. The effective $|ΔS| = 1$ four-quark operators are matched to the $|ΔS| = 1$ standard model processes involving the CP phase of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix at the electroweak scale and run down to the hadronic scale $μ= 1$ GeV according to the renormalization group evolution in the next-to-leading logarithmic order. At the hadronic scale, the hadron matrix elements are modeled in the factorization approach. We then obtain the one-meson (pion, eta meson, and kaon) exchange CP-odd nuclear force, which is the combination of the $|ΔS| = 1$ meson-baryon vertices which issue from the penguin operator and the hyperon-nucleon transition. From this CP-odd nuclear force, the nuclear EDM is calculated with the realistic Argonne $v18$ interaction and the CP-odd nuclear force using the Gaussian expansion method. It is found that the EDMs of light nuclear systems are of order $O(10^{-31}) e $ cm. We also estimate the standard model contribution to other hadronic CP violating observables such as the EDMs of $^6$Li, $^9$Be nuclei, and the atomic EDMs of $^{129}$Xe, $^{199}$Hg, $^{211}$Rn, and $^{225}$Ra generated through the nuclear Schiff moment. We then analyze the source of theoretical uncertainties and show some possible ways to overcome them.
