Changing the care process is vital to maintain high quality care in heart failure (HF). HF is one of the most prevalent chronic diseases, affecting 3,600,000 people in NWE today and >5,000,000 in 2025 due to population ageing. HF care is expensive (>3,600 €/y pp) and provided by healthcare professionals only. The burden of HF on healthcare labour and costs is unsustainable. Patient self-care may solve the problem but is unsupported in the value chain. Current HF-eHealth products do not replace care, are stand-alone and add-ons to standard care rather than supporting patients in self-care. Next-gen eHealth providing decision support and actively involving HF-patients will reduce costs (50%) and improve quality of care. This provides huge business potential for the healthcare value chain. -

Funded by the Africa, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) science and technology programme - itself supported by the ninth European Development Fund - the project runs for four years (2010-2013) on a budget of approximately three million Euros.
In that time we support the set-up of research and innovation management associations in Central and East Africa, and the Caribbean region, as well as strengthen existing structures in Southern and West Africa. It will also provide training and mentoring, resources and an information and communications network that research managers can draw on in support of their activities.Other creatorsSee project -

The project aimed to consolidate the dialogue between the key stakeholders in Mexico and the European Union (EU) responsible for the scientific, technological and innovation (STI) cooperation, following up the efforts carried out by the first phase of UEMEXCYT, as well as improving the channel of communication and partnership among Mexico and EU Member States; proposing ways of optimizing the cooperation mechanisms and enhancing the collaborative work; raising awareness to foster the formation of partnership opportunities between STI communities from both sides.
UEMEXCYT2 was integrated by CONACYT, as coordinator, the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona from Spain (UAB), the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement from France (IRD), the Agenzia de la Promozione della Ricerca Europea from Italy (APRE), the Deutsch Zentrum Fur Luft – Und Raumfahrt Ev from Germany (PT‐DLR), the Zentrum Fuer Soziale Innovation from Austria (ZSI), Research & Innovation Management Services (RIMS) and Centre d'Étude des Relations entre l'Union Européenne et l'Amérique Latine (CERCAL) both from Belgium.
A key and strategic aspect of the EU‐Mexico STI cooperation was the renewal of the Agreement for Scientific and Technology Cooperation for a new 5 year period (2010‐2015); the Agreement represents the principal commitment between the EU and Mexican authorities toward the consolidation of a ‘knowledge area’ among both regions.
Under this perspective, the UEMEXCYT2 project became a strategic actor in the process of constructing a structured collaborative agenda and disseminating the opportunities among the Mexican and the European research and innovation communities, also as an important instrument to support the policy dialogue with the EU, as well as for the coordination of the political dialogue at
bi‐regional level in the European Union – Latin‐America and the Caribbean (EU‐LAC) science and technology process.Other creatorsSee project -
