Tutelo, also known as Tutelo–Saponi, is a member of the Virginian branch of Siouan languages that was originally spoken in what is now Virginia and West Virginia, as well as in the later travels of the speakers through North Carolina, Pennsylvania, New York, and finally, Ontario. The last fluent speaker in Tutelo country, Nikonha, died in 1871 at age 106, but managed to impart about 100 words of vocabulary

Here's something fun to share about our Anderson genealogy. Several years ago, Christine Avant Anderson clued me in on the fact that some of our Way ancestors may have been involved in the Salem witch trials. It seems some of them left Massachusetts to settle in South Carolina. Well...I've since found some more information that shows that our Murrell, Lord, and Osgood ancestors may have also been involved - to the point that some of them were actually accused of being witches!

A well known Native principle is to love & serve those around us. Just as the Great Spirit loves & comforts us, we should also love & comfort those around us. We can show the Creator’s love for us through sharing that love with others. If we use our God-given talents & skills to serve others, then they will more fully witness the love of the Great Spirit. Those principles will then be perpetuated by those around us, & the ripple effect will travel throughout the world.
