Emotional Eating..... What's behind it?

Emotional eating is often just a symptom of something else. It's never about the food! It doesn't feel that way though....It can often start in childhood, from past experiences. We use food to soothe ourself, numb emotions, eat when we are bored. We often have attachments to food and need to heal our relationship with food, to do that we need to address the emotions we are avoiding.

Was food ever used as a reward, punishment, bribe, celebration or comfort. I know these all seem to be pretty innocent, but as small children we form emotional attachments. We learn not to trust our bodies as we are no longer eating when we're hungry. It gets confusing.
