We’re pleased to welcome Apple Records into TIDAL, with a brief history of the iconic label.

Forty years ago Wednesday, The Beatles launched Apple Records. The label's trademark green Apple logo appeared on albums by The Beatles and other artists the band helped discover. It didn't take The Beatles long to show they were better at making music than running a business.

Apple Records was officially founded by the group after their return from India in 1968, as another sub-division of Apple Corps. They release Hey Jude/Revolution as the first single o the Apple label.

The inventiveness--and fruit fascination--of the great Belgian painter René Magritte inspired both the Beatles and, in a roundabout way, Steve Jobs.
