Aztec history

We all know the Aztecs by the name "Aztec." However, the Nahua people or "Aztecs" actually referred to themselves as Mexica. The Westerners who came up with the name Aztecs likely took it from one of the Nahuatl words, aztecatl and aztecah, meaning "people from Aztlan." This was a mythological place for the Nahuatl-speaking Mexica "Aztec"culture of the time.
