Bilateral coordination refers to the ability to coordinate both sides of the body at the same time in a controlled and organized manner; for example, stabilizing paper with one hand while writing/ cutting with the other. Good bilateral integration/ coordination is an indicator that both sides of the brain are communicating effectively and sharing information. Your baby is growing up quickly and is having a whale of a time making discoveries and exploring new things. Of course, your excitement to knows no bounds. However, for your child to master important motor skills, it’s vital that she has good bilateral coordination.

Cindy @ Your Kids OT ✏️🍪🇦🇺🐕 on Instagram: "BILATERAL COORDINATION ACTIVITIES USING PLASTIC RINGS Welcome to the little closet room that I can use at a school that I go to! I had a cancellation so had a few minutes to record some of the activities we are doing this week with plastic rings. Bilateral coordination is the ability to use the left and right sides of the body in a coordinated way. Sometimes we use both sides simultaneously, sometimes one is dominant and the other side helps, sometimes we coordinate the upper body with the lower body. Crossing the midline is a key skill that helps us to see if the left and right sides of the body are integrated. Can the left hand move to the right side of the body without compensation or does the child switch hands in the middle?
