Kanchanaburi Cemetary, Thailand. This is a main WWII cemetary associated with the POWs who died at the hands of the Japanese during the construction of the Burma Railway. Almost 7000 young men are buried here, mostly Australian, British and Dutch. It's a very sad and moving place and I will never forget my visit there. This cemetary is very close to the "Bridge over the River Kwai". Asia Travel, Commonwealth, Burma Railway, Over The River, Memorial Garden, Young Men, The Bridge, Graveyard, Never Forget

Royal Air Force aircraft attack bridges on the Burma-Siam railway. British and Commonwealth forces halted the Japanese advance at the Burma-India frontier in 1942, but the campaign to drive them back out of South-East Asia was one of the hardest fought of the war. The use of air power was a critical factor in achieving Allied victory.
