When performing a side jete, it’s important to focus on the full rotation of the leg. if the dancer is not fully finding their turn out and rotation in the height of their jump, it will cause their pelvis to tilt forward, causing them to limit the maximum height of the split.

I love to do this exercise with my dancers, where I ask them to sit on the floor in their full rotated position to feel how much hip mobility have in the optimal position. Once they feel this, I find that it helps them find that rotation in the height of their jump, and help them use their full mobility.
