Nilgiri marten

La marta de Nilgiri (Martes gwatkinsii) es una especie de mamífero carnívoro de la familia Mustelidae. Habita al sudeste de India y se encuentra en las colinas de Nilgiri y parte de los Ghats occidentales.

The yellow-throated marten is a fearless animal with no natural predators, because of its powerful build, its bright coloration and unpleasant odor. It shows little fear of humans or dogs, and is easily tamed.

“This is a Nilgiri marten. It's the only species of marten native to India. These martens are diurnal (day) creatures and stay mainly in the trees. They are carnivorous and eat birds, small mammals, and insects such as cicadas. They will also eat fruits and seeds.”
