I’ve had a checkerboard illusion saved in my inspo folder for as long as it’s existed, and after painting circles all year, I wanted to try something different. I found a greyscale reference of this illusion and followed it exactly. The only trick is to get the values in the right places, colors don’t matter! The illusion is a result of the darkest and lightest values grouping together and pulling in different directions.
