Hello everyone. I am Uğur Gallenkuş, an Istanbul-based digital artist. I create collages juxtaposing two images including the work of some of today’s most intrepid photojournalists.

We have always looked up to the sun. It is warm, it is beautiful and it nourishes life on our planet. It is always present in our art, in our dreams, in our lives and its many phases are revered and always photographed. Who doesn't love a beautiful sunrise or a breathtaking sunset?

The smoke particles that we see, however, are particulate pollution which can coat the leaf surface, reducing photosynthesis. These particulates can also clog stomatal pores, reducing gas exchange in the leaf. These effects are bad for plants. Cigarette smoke, and some other smokes, also contain tar which can clog stomatal pores.
