I hate to see the old theaters disappear, but I'm glad they kept the ticket booth and part of the facade.

Centre theater neon signage. A vintage movie marquee from an old folder of photos I came across. Don't know who took the pictures or remember where they came from, but they sure look nice.

The Princess Theater was a silent film and vaudeville playhouse when it opened in 1919. It was restored in 1941 with a brillantly lite art deco neon marquee and purchased by the city of Decatur as a venue for the performing arts. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

RALEIGH - Yours truly has learned that scenes for a Paramount Pictures sequel to the movie "Jackass" are being filmed in Raleigh.

A new marquee at the Carpenter Theater. This new marquee is a replica of the original, aside from the digital ticker line and the illuminated lettering. Originally this was traditional removable backlit letting. Here is a older photo of the theater that shows the ugly 1970s marquee. Originally, this theater was a Loew's movie palace.
