In 1959 Richard Olyer, a government employee living in the small desert town of Lone Pine, California, sent a letter to architect Richard Neutra asking if he could design a simple, modest family home. To Oyler’s surprise and delight Neutra agreed to his request. Within the collective purview of Neutra’s works the Oyler House, while having many of Neutra design signatures, is unique in its use of local materials and site; perhaps inspired by the stunning setting. No fear of color or decor in this house as it’s a feast for the eyes. Lovely flagstone flooring throughout the house and a large wall of wood framed windows. The vintage fixtures in the bathroom are interesting as they are a mix of Crane and American Standard. Most people picked a brand and stuck with it, not the case here so my assumption is these vintage fixtures were sourced and installed more recently. The fixtures in bathroom one are the Crane Oxford sink combined with an American Standard Pembroke tub. Note the collection of Lagardo Tackett fish dishes displayed on the wall here.
