"Be Ready" was something my parents embedded in my brain since I was very young. Born and raised in San Juan, PR the possibility of hurricanes was always a concern. In 2000 I made the decision to switch my professional goals from Medicine to Safety and by 2002 I graduated from my Masters in Occupational Health and Safety which I later complemented with a Master in Adult Education and Training. These two disciplines combined my passion for public safety and teaching and helped me shape my professional career for the last 15 years. Currently, working as a Safety and Emergency Manager for the Federal Government, I have completed many hours of Emergency Response Training and developed policies and guidelines extensively. As I learned, researched, drilled and test many approaches to Emergency Preparedness I keep noticing that most of my friends and moms are expected to be prepared in a moment notice without being given the proper tools to achieve these expectations.
