François Simon Alphonse Giroux (1776-1848), later called Giroux-father had a band painter. He entered the Academy of Painting and Sculpture in Paris in 1792 and continued his studies in David's studio. In 1806 he was appointed artist-restorer of the Archdiocese of Paris and was asked to restore some masterpieces damaged during the French Revolution. He worked mainly at Notre-Dame in Paris, restored the "Sermon of St. John" and paintings from the series "Madonna" made for the Cathedral Choir.
