Ella Corry
Co-Player of the Year, Ella Corry, Clarence, QB/CB, 12: The Division I Player of the Year, Corry led Clarence to its second consecutive regional championship and to the first-ever state championship game. She also was named the team’s MVP after throwing for 2,031 yards and 36 touchdowns. On the ground, Corry had 141 carries for 671 yards and 11 touchdowns with 42 conversions. Her performance on the field and basketball court earned her Clarence’s Athlete of the Year honors. She’s also second all-time in school history in basketball with 1,471 points.
Gretchen Rumfola
Co-Player of the Year, Gretchen Rumfola, Pioneer, QB/S, 12: As one of the best players in the area, Rumfola led Pioneer to a 16-1 record and an appearance in the regional championship game. She had 1,256 passing yards and 28 touchdowns, with 1,316 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns. Defensively, she made 33 tackles, 15 pass deflections, eight interceptions and two pick-sixes. Her favorite moment from the season was playing at Highmark Stadium.
Sage Sabatino
Sage Sabatino, Amherst, QB, 12: Led Amherst to the Division II North co-championship. Finished the season with 3,100 passing yards and 51 passing touchdowns (led Section VI). On the ground, Sabatino had 1,096 rushing yards, nine rushing touchdowns and four rushing conversions. She was a three-year starter and ends her career with 6,947 passing yards and 95 passing touchdowns. For her career, she rushed for 2,413 yards and 25 touchdowns. She was the 2023 All-Section VI Co-Player of the Year.
Sammi Jo Payne
Sammi Jo Payne, Clarence, RB, 12: Payne is a tenacious runner on the field, accumulating 1,307 yards and 17 touchdowns on 175 carries. She also had 19 receptions for 449 yards. Payne, named the team’s MVP, led Clarence to the state championship game and helped grow the program as the two-time reigning regional champions. Payne is an All-WNY soccer player and will continue her career at the University of South Florida.
Jayden Leederman
Jayden Leederman, Pioneer, RB, 10: Rushed for 1,187 yards and 15 touchdowns. Leederman also gained 129 yards and a scored a touchdown as a wide receiver. Defensively, she was the team’s linebacker and had 97 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 10 pass deflections, six sacks and an interception. Beating Clarence during the regular season was her most memorable moment.
Erin Clemens-Regan
Erin Clemens-Regan, Sweet Home, WR, 12: With 64 receptions, Clemens-Regan scored 15 touchdowns and had six conversion receptions. On defense, she pulled 65 flags, nine for loss, and had nine interceptions. Clemens-Regan defended 19 passes and had a pick-six. She also was on the basketball and volleyball teams.
Eva Torrado
Eva Torrado, Williamsville North, WR, 12: Totaled 1,080 yards, 15 touchdowns and four conversions. She was named a Division I All-Star. Torrado had a three-touchdown game against Jamestown.
Annabel Martin
Annabel Martin, Amherst, WR, 11: One of the team’s captains, Martin helped Amherst to a co-Division II North title. With 119 catches, she led Western New York in receiving yards (1,226) and receiving touchdowns (29). She also had 261 punt return yards. Martin’s most enjoyable moment from the season was beating Williamsville South alongside teammate Sage Sabatino in flag football and basketball.
Sienna Heary
Sienna Heary, Clarence, C/TE, 12: Heary was adept at making herself available on routes for 48 receptions for 653 yards, six touchdowns and 10 conversions. She helped Clarence advance to the state championship game, and her favorite game of the season was the regional game victory because of how close it was. Heary was on the softball and basketball teams for two seasons.
Abigail Mason
Abigail Mason, Pioneer, C/TE, 10: Set a school record with 15 receiving conversions. Mason also had 239 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns. On defense, she had 66 tackles, seven pass deflections, two interceptions and a pick-six. Beating Fredonia in the Division II sectional title game at Highmark Stadium was her best memory from the season.
Alannah Bushorr
Alannah Bushorr, Williamsville North, Utility, 12: Had a total of 3,209 total yards, 41 total touchdowns and 21 conversions. She was the team’s captain and was named a scholar-athlete. Against Niagara-Wheatfield, she had a career-high 232 rushing yards. Against Williamsville South, she set a career high of six touchdowns. She played quarterback, running back and safety for the Spartans.
Maggie Gocella
Maggie Gocella, Orchard Park, Utility, 10: Finished the season with 2,060 total yards and 33 touchdowns with four conversions. Gocella was named the team’s Offensive Player of the Year and during the season she enjoyed being with her teammates daily.
Morgan Khadra
Morgan Khadra, Grand Island, DE, 12: Had 106 flag pulls, 11 tackles for loss, seven sacks, four passes defended, three interceptions and six pick-sixes. She also served as a running back, totaling 777 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns. Khadra led Grand Island to the Section VI Division 2A final. She was an All-WNY second-team soccer selection and will continue her career at Queens College.
Elizabeth Morris
Elizabeth Morris, Fredonia, DE, 11: Morris led Fredonia to a 15-2 record and to a Section VI Division 2B championship. She led the team with 47 flag pulls, 30 sacks and nine tackles for loss. Her favorite moment from the season was beating Iroquois in the sectional title game, saying, “I knew we were going to win, and we all celebrated together because we knew we deserved to be there.” Morris also is on the volleyball team and participates in unified bocce ball and unified flag football.
Ella Propheter
Ella Propheter, Jamestown, LB, 12: Threw for 1,310 yards and 14 touchdowns and rushed for 856 yards and two touchdowns. Propheter had 312 kick return yards and two kick return touchdowns. Defensively, she had 117 flag pulls, 15 pass deflections, six interceptions, six pick-sixes and three tackles for loss.
Ella Koopman
Ella Koopman, Fredonia, LB, 12: Recorded 46 flag pulls and 16 pass deflections. Koopman served as Fredonia’s quarterback, throwing for 1,338 yards and 28 touchdowns. Koopman helped the Hillbillies win the Section VI Division 2B title. Beating Clarence was her top memory from the season because the Red Devils are a Division I team.
Olivia Bell
Olivia Bell, Clarence, LB, 10: Led the team with 102 flag pulls to go with 10 passes defended, five tackles for loss, three interceptions, two sacks and a pick-six. Bell’s defensive prowess earned her the team’s most valuable defensive player of the year award. She’s proud of herself for becoming a better communicator on the field. Bell also is a member of the basketball team.
Lilly Kless
Lilly Kless, Pioneer, LB, 10: Had 86 tackles, 46 tackles for loss, 15 sacks and an interception. Kless also would serve as a running back, running for 884 yards and 12 touchdowns. Kless’ most memorable game from the season was a victory over Clarence.
Scarlett Melancon
Scarlett Melancon, Williamsville South, DB, 11: Led Williamsville South to a third-place finish in Division II North. As a reliable defensive threat, Melancon had 53 flag pulls and three interceptions. Offensively, she had 161 carries for 1,014 yards and 16 touchdowns. Melancon is on the soccer team and believes the sport has pushed her to be more competitive.
Halle Senfield
Halle Senfield, Orchard Park, DB, 11: Led Orchard Park with 600 receiving yards, 15 touchdowns and four receiving conversions. Senfield is a two-time team MVP and was the team’s offensive player of the year in 2023. Her top moment from the season was the team’s playoff game against Sweet Home because she had multiple one-hand catches and a diving touchdown.
Kennedy Adams
Kennedy Adams, Williamsville East, DB, 12: Also serving as a quarterback, Adams threw for 232 yards and a touchdown. She rushed for 1,260 yards on 109 carries for 14 touchdowns. She did a little bit of everything, including receiver, with 26 catches for 420 yards and seven touchdowns. She was encouraged to join the flag football team and is thankful. Adams was also part of the cheerleading team, helping the Flames win the Section VI co-ed title and place eighth at the state meet.
Amber Murak
Amber Murak, Sweet Home, Utility, 12: Had 18 flag pulls, six passes defended, two interceptions and a pick-six. Murak also was the team’s quarterback, throwing for 2,238 yards and 30 touchdowns. When rushing, Murak had 972 yards and 10 touchdowns. Her favorite moment from the season was beating Amherst for the ‘Big Cat Belt.’ Murak also was on the volleyball and basketball teams, and will continue her hoops career at the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford.
