Rochester man charged with 5 felonies after domestic violence call in Buffalo
A Rochester man was arrested Thursday on felony charges after Buffalo police responded to a domestic violence call in the 400 block of Normal Avenue on Buffalo’s Lower West Side.
A 12-year-old girl called police to alert them her mother was being assaulted, a spokesman for the Buffalo Police Department said. When officers arrived at the residence, they heard screaming inside and broke through a locked door to find a badly injured woman on the floor. She told officers that a man with whom she was acquainted had broken into her home, physically and sexually assaulted her, stolen her phone and fled through a broken window, the spokesman said.
After an investigation was launched by detectives from the Special Victims Unit, a suspect was identified and apprehended.
