My wife and I had the opportunity to see the Savannah Bananas play baseball at Sahlen Field. The Bananas are part of a multiple-team organization that does more than just play ball. Its games feature a separate set of rules known as Banana Ball.
Sahlen Field was sold out for the whole weekend, filled with families who decided to bring their kids along to witness the Savannah Bananas exhibit their own eccentric take on America's national pastime.
There are no walks or mound visits. Batters can steal first base. Fans can get hitters out by catching their foul balls (this happened three times on a recent Sunday). They have returned fun to baseball. Many people have lost interest in MLB and AAA baseball games, calling them boring, lacking excitement, etc. Go to a Banana Ball game when you get a chance. Your interest in baseball will be rekindled!
