University at Buffalo athletic director Mark Alnutt will lead the NCAA's Football Bowl Subdivision Oversight Committee, an appointment that went into effect this week.
UB announced Alnutt's appointment Tuesday in a release. Alnutt will serve a three-year term as chair of the FBS oversight committee; he has been vice chair of the FBS oversight committee since 2023, and has been a member of the NCAA Division I Council since 2023.Â
The FBS oversight committee oversees ongoing development of football at the FBS level, makes recommendations for the regular season and postseason, supervises procedures for licensing postseason bowls and provides direction to the NCAA Football Rules Committee regarding playing rules governing the sport at the FBS level.
The oversight committee is made up of 17 members, including Alnutt, who is in his seventh year as UB's athletic director.Â
