What is a Climate Vulnerability Assessment (CVA)? Forests are vital to Canada's economy, traditional practices, biodiversity, and environmental health and to ensure their future, we must focus on promoting sustainability and resilience in the face of climate change. A Climate Vulnerability Assessment provides a science-based, structured decision-making approach to identifying climate change impacts and adaptation measures to reduce forest and forest operations vulnerability. A CVA enhances the likelihood of achieving Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) objectives into the future while leveraging any positive opportunities that arise from climate change. Let's work with climate change to protect our forests for generations to come! #Forsite #ForsiteOperations #Forestry #ClimateChange #ClimateVulnerabilityAssessments #Sustainability

Congratulations to Sarah Rempel, RPF for 20 years at Forsite! Sarah came to work for us after she had graduated from Selkirk College. Working on timber development programs for various clients throughout the interior, she became a Senior Timber Cruiser and has mentored many cruisers coming up through the Forsite program. When Forsite first opened an office in Prince George Sarah moved north to support building that region. She worked in many remote areas of the province including Mackenzie and north Williston Lake. She went back to school at UNBC to gain her degree in Forestry and eventually pursue her RPF. Sarah has since moved back to Salmon Arm and works as a Senior Development Forester within our Southern Interior Forest Operations group. "Sarah is a very knowledgeable forester and is often the go to person for both staff and management when it comes to complex issues or tasks related to forest development practices. Sarah has an 'if I don’t know I will figure it out' attitude and approach to her job. Sarah is admired by her peers for her experience, hard work, knowledge and ability to achieve successful results." - Stacey Tress, Operations Manager. #ComeGrowWithUs #ForsiteOperations #CareerMilestone #ForestryCareer

Catch Forsite's Cam Brown's comments on LiDAR and how it is evolving in the forest industry. #ForsiteInventory #BarrGeoSpatialSolutions #NMI #ForsiteInventory
Lidar has changed many industries over the last few decades, and in the last 10 years or so the advent of remote sensing workflows to create what's known as "digital forestry" has significantly changed forestry as a whole. Recently, Geo Week News spoke with Cam Brown of Forsite Consultants and Mark Corrao, Ph.D. of Northwest Management, Inc about how the industry has been changed by lidar, and the ROI that has come from its implementation.
