Community (Virtual) Meeting

he Gum Springs Homeowners Organization (GSHO) and West Ford Legacy Foundation (WFLF) comprised of West Ford descendants, will be hosting a community virtual meeting on September 17, 2024,at 7:00 p.m. to discuss art work on one Fordson Road water tank. This is the only topic of discussion. Click here to attend the virtual meeting.

Linda Allen Hollis, Great-Great-Great Granddaughter of West Ford, founder and father of Gum Springs, will be the guest presenter.

This meeting is not for just Gum Springs residents (owners and renters).  If you live, work, worship, visit or shop within the vicinity of Gum Springs, we want to hear from you as a part of the decision-making process because you can see the water tanks from Fordson, Boswell, Schellhorn and Richmond Highway.

Brief Background for Hosting a Community Meeting: Despite the March 27, 2024, online survey that generated more than 500 signatures and 13,700 petition views, according to certain individuals involved in the decision-making process, it was not enough to show community support to have art work on one Fordson Road water tank because of an unverified significant number of opposers.  GSHO made its list of 500+ supporters available.  The opposers have not yet done so.

Therefore, GSHO and WFLF agreed to host a community virtual meeting in response to a requirement to show either strong community support for the art work or that the community is strongly divided and opposed for the art work.

We want to hear from you and will welcome your feedback—positive or negative!

A survey has also been created to especially capture feedback from specifically targeted zip codes along with those outside the targeted zip codes.

Please do not be discouraged if your zip code is not targeted.  Your activity in the area is important as well because you have a purpose for being in the area,  For example, during 2022, approximately 36,200 vehicles traveled daily along Fordson Road. Tourism is big business, shopping to support local businesses is encouraged and being blessed to attend one of five houses of worship in Gum Springs.  So, you are encouraged to attend the community virtual meeting to voice your position, hear the purpose for the artwork and take the 1-minute survey.

You can take the 1-minute survey either before or after the virtual meeting.  Click here to take the survey:  Please take the survey!  The survey will close on September 16, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.

The results of the survey will be provided during the September 17, 2024, community meeting and used as a supplement to the March 27, 2024, online survey to the appropriate entities
