Eighth graders may apply for ninth grade admission to Camden County Technical Schools (CCTS). High school freshmen wishing to transfer and students attending another Technical School and moving into Camden County may also apply. Out-of-county students may apply, but their application will not be reviewed until after March 1st and acceptance will depend on multiple factors. Please contact the admissions officer to discuss. How to Apply (see Application and Process link for more information). The application portal opens on the ccts.org website on July 1st for students entering 8th and 9th grade who live in Camden County and wish to apply to either the Gloucester Township Campus or the Pennsauken Campus of CCTS for the following school year. The deadline to apply is January 1st, but the application portal shall remain open if there are open spots. Our schools are in high demand and we encourage everyone interested to apply as early as possible.
Applicants must complete an application and submit it along with a copy of their last year’s final report card, their most recent report card once issued, attendance history, and most recent standardized test scores. Applicants must also take a placement test that is offered throughout the year at both of our campuses.
Parents will receive detailed instructions once an application is received as to what documents are needed, to schedule the placement test, and if applicable, the link to submit the forms required for letters of recommendation, the link to upload the graphic arts portfolio, and the audition dates for Music and performing Arts. (see application and process link). Parents are asked to sign and submit a records release form so we may obtain the NJSLA or other standardized test scores when they become available. The application is then placed on hold until the parents submit their child’s first marking period report card when it becomes available in the Fall. It is the responsibility of the parents to submit all required documents, schedule their child to take the placement test, and complete the required paperwork in a timely fashion. Eligibility Requirements The Camden County Technical School district operates independently and is governed by a Board of Education with support from the Camden County Commissioners, and the State of New Jersey. The Admissions Team reviews completed applications after the first marking period report cards are received. This includes the applicant’s standardized test scores; results of the CCTS Placement Test; attendance records; 7th and 8th grade report cards; 9th grade report card if applying to 10th grade; essays and letters of recommendation if applicable; audition results if applying for the Music Academy or the Performing Arts Academy; portfolio review if applying to Graphic Arts and Design, and other documents/information provided by the applicant’s current school district and/or parents or guardians.
CCTS caters to all academic abilities from those with special needs, to students taking Advanced Placement college-level courses. Eligibility for entrance into CCTS is the same for all applicants and in accordance with district admission standards, date of application, career program availability, and building capacity for each campus. The Admissions Team uses multiple measures as part of the admissions process. Completed applications are reviewed after first marking period report cards are received. If accepted, career program placement is dependent upon multiple factors and is at the discretion of the Admissions Team. Applicants will initially be considered for their first choice. In career programs and Academies that have more qualified applicants than open spots, a lottery shall take place. Those not selected shall be waitlisted. Qualified applicants will only be considered for their second or third choices if openings are available. Incomplete applications will remain on hold. Decision Letters Decision letters (accepted, not accepted, on hold, or waitlisted) will be mailed beginning February 15th and continue to be mailed until we reach enrollment capacity for the following school year. Tuition is free to Camden County residents, and bus transportation is provided by the local school districts. If parents wish to decline an offer of admission or withdraw their child's application, please notify the Admissions Office in writing and the application will be withdrawn.
Middle School Career Exploration Counselors, Principals and Eighth grade teachers are encouraged to contact the Admissions Office to schedule a group of between 10 and 30 eighth graders to visit the Gloucester Township Campus for one school day, or the Pennsauken Campus for a half day from September through December. Seventh graders are welcome to tour from February through May. Large school districts may schedule as many days as needed to accommodate their students. Please contact Caitlyn Segear at 856-767-7000, X 5323 or [email protected] to make arrangements. Transportation will be provided by CCTS. While at CCTS, interested students will receive an overview of more than 30 career options and tour the campus. Visiting/Touring During the school year, Information Nights are held in the evening to accommodate parents and potential students wishing to tour CCTS. Please check our calendar and the "Information Nights" link on this website for specific dates and time. Parents are also welcome to call to schedule a tour of either campus during the school year. Parents and potential students interested in a personal tour during the school day and/or interested in meeting with the Admissions Officer are asked to call 856-767-7000 x 5323 or email [email protected].
