Preparation

  1. Step 1

    Bring water and salt to boil. Slowly add cornmeal, stirring to prevent lumping. Cook over low heat until grits are cooked and mixture is thick. Season with pepper.

  2. Step 2

    Either serve grits from the pot or pour into 10-inch pie plate and chill.

  3. Step 3

    If chilled, cut into triangles and reheat in oven at 350 degrees for 10 minutes before serving.
