I'm the author of "Inheritance: An Autobiography of Whiteness" and the co-author of "I Got a Monster: The Rise and Fall of America's Most Corrupt Police Squad." My writing has appeared in a wide range of publications including the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Guardian, Oxford American Magazine, the Intercept, McSweeney's and many others. I wrote a syndicated column, Democracy in Crisis, for 20 alternative weekly papers. I was the Managing Editor at Baltimore City Paper and have worked as a freelance editor for outlets such as Huffpost's Highline longform site. I've helped train and edit a lot of great writers. I also write libretti for opera.
