Domestic Worker Employment Rights

Overview
The Domestic Worker Employment Rights Amendment Act of 2022 (“The Act”) establishes requirements for employers of domestic workers. Under this law, employers must create a written agreement with their domestic workers.   Additionally, domestic workers must receive online resources, public education, and outreach. The Office of Wage-Hour has provided a sample Domestic Worker Contract template, claim form, and additional resources to ensure compliance and to inform employees of their rights. Additional resources are provided below.

Domestic Worker Services Contract
The Act requires individuals/hiring entities in the District of Columbia to enter into a “Services Contract” when hiring domestic workers.
We’ve provided the “Services Contract” template below that includes all required details under The Act.
How to File a Claim
Employees who do not receive a Services Contract outlining their employment terms and conditions may file a claim.
If other wage law rights are violated, domestic workers can file a claim.
