My father, Hollis B. Powers, was the test driver. The original design had a problem that on the unpaved roads of the day, rocks would kick up and jump the chain. The goal was for my father to be able to drive it on the Mississippi River Levee from Baton Rouge to New Orleans without that happening. Once Treen resolved that issue, he was ready to go forward. undo

Also this edit destroyed a refeence, so I am reluctantly reverting it. (TW) undo Tag: Undo

My father was the test driver for the cycle during its development. Mr. Treen, had a Harley Davidson dealership in Baton Rouge and developed the cycle in a shop on Choctaw Drive. There was a problem with the design in that the drive belt or chain would be thrown by rocks kicked up on the gravel roads. When my dad could drive it from BR to New Orleans and back on the Miss. River levee without a problem the problem was solved. undo
