Onne van der Wal is a Dutch marine photographer and writer.[1]
van der Wal spent his early life in apartheid South Africa.[2]
van der Wal started his career with Sail Magazine when they approached him to take photographs.[3] He was on board Flyer II which won the 1981–1982 Whitbread Round the World Race.[4]
He currently lives in Newport, Rhode Island with his wife, Tenley, and three children.[3][5]
