I have been contributing to the Wikipedia since January 2003, although my contributions have been light until late 2004. I am particularly interested in adding and developing content on film, television, theatre and other visual culture from Spain, Catalonia and the Spanish-speaking countries of Latin America, but I tend to poke my nose into various things that look interesting or where there's a good discussion brewing.
On #Wikipedia and the other IRC channels I go by the alias Kolya.
I was made an Administrator on August 16, 2005.
I am a participant in various projects including Spanish Translation of the Week and WikiProject Cricket. My current major project is helping to process the backlog at Wikipedia:Copyright problems: see User:Ngb/Possible copyright violations under investigation.
WikiPreoccupations
The two things I do most frequently on the Wikipedia (my primary means of procrastination, in fact!) are ensuring that Current sports events is kept up to date with cricket-related content and wikifying new pages: I find a particular satisfaction in copyediting these pages so that, even if they don't contain much information, at least they look like part of the 'pedia!
I think there is a fundamental problem in Wikipedia with systemic bias, a problem which manifests itself not only in coverage but also in Votes for deletion and prevailing criteria for what is considered 'encyclopaedic'. For that reason I monitor, and where possible contribute to, WikiProject Countering systemic bias.
WikiPhilosophies
I am moderately inclusionist (Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information, but equally Wikipedia is not paper).
Per VeryVerily's list of conflicting Wikipedia philosophies, my dominant philosophies are moderate immediatism (articles should be in as good condition as possible when they are live), moderate anti-statusquoism (edits should not be reverted unless they are truly just troublesome), communityism (Wikipedia should be made a welcoming place for newcomers who wish to participate; actions which might be seen as rude and disrespectful to others should be avoided) and anti-authorism (there is no author for articles, each is a community effort).
