iOS 18 (derivative for iPhone)

iPadOS 18 is the upcoming sixth major release of Apple's iPadOS operating system for the iPad. It was revealed at the 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).[3] It is the direct successor to iPadOS 17 and was announced alongside iOS 18, macOS Sequoia, visionOS 2, and watchOS 11.

iPadOS 18 is the first version of iPadOS to include Apple's Calculator application, as well as Apple Intelligence.[4]

System features

Home screen

Introduces the same home screen customisation as iOS 18.

Calculator

Apple's Calculator application comes to iPadOS for the first time and can now recognize handwritten math notes.

Control Center

Much like iOS 18, the Control Center is now customizable with resizable buttons.

Supported devices

iPadOS 18 drops support for the 2nd generation iPad Pro (2017, 12.9 and 10.5 inch) and the 6th generation iPad (2018), which include A10X and A10 chips, respectively. However, iPadOS 18 continues to support the 7th generation iPad,[5] which also includes an A10 chip. This operating system drops support for all iPads that used the original 9.7-inch display size. This also marks the fourth time Apple has dropped support for 64-bit iPads and the first time Apple has dropped support for an iPad (iPad Pro 2nd generation) featuring superior hardware to some models (iPad 7th generation) receiving the update.

The 7th generation iPad is the only supported iPad without Apple Neural Engine, while the 3rd generation iPad Air is the only supported iPad with a 10.5-inch display.

The following models are supported:
