Cougar Draven, or The Ladder to the Top

Meh. My name is Cougar Draven. Okay, so it's not, but I try. I'm twenty-four years old, I'm a graduate of Crystal Lake South High School, and I live in Illinois. I use Wikipedia for mostly educational purposes, and I'm looking forward to contributing pages to Wikipedia, so I'm going to use this as my own sandbox, as it were.

I was born in 1987 in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Okay, technically, I believe that the hospital is in Superior Township, but that's really not the point. (Correction: St. Joseph Mercy Hospital is indeed in Ypsilanti.) I spent the vast majority of my youth in the nearby town of Plymouth, and attended the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park for two years. After that, in 2003, I moved to Crystal Lake, Illinois, where I attended Crystal Lake South High School, where I graduated in 2006.

In the late summer of 2006, I moved back to Michigan, where I stayed for a year. After that, I moved to Greensboro, North Carolina, and from there to Muskogee, Oklahoma by way of Brinkley, Arkansas, and then to Hueytown, Alabama. In December of 2008, I moved back to Crystal Lake, Illinois, and I now live in Union, Illinois. (Well, as of tomorrow, May 15, 2011, I will anyway.)

On May 6, 2009, my daughter, Irene Rose, was born, and on August 28, 2009, I married her mother.

Opinions: The Word of Draven

Politics

Sadly enough, I have managed to form a very few political beliefs. Chief among these is the necessity for security. Personal freedom is nice, to be sure, but to combine it with security will take some work. That being said, there isn't a single government that's gotten it right yet, and I doubt any single one ever will.

And, just as an aside, the United States is an oligarchy.

Religion

Religion, honestly. Religion is one of the great problems with our society these days, and I honestly think that religion is another form of political thought. It's just more dangerous, because it's not open about it.

Mind you, I'm not talking about faith. There is a difference.

Wikipedia: Encyclopædia Chaotica

I normally lurk, although I've been known to police the CLS page, where I graduated in 2006. I have no great Wikipedia aspirations, although I will quite frequently police for grammar and spelling when I see it, since I tend to use this for research.

I also plan on increasing my activism to here. Also, I need to improve my edit summaries.

Most recently, I've expanded my article editing database considerably. I hope to become a more well-rounded editor.

Pages I Watch

The Questions

I have been thinking about this a long while, and I wish to ask Wikipedians who happen to come this way some questions. I'll add to the list when I feel like it.

  1. What exactly is notability? And who gets to decide it? I mean, look at it this way. I personally feel my girlfriend is very notable, and most of her family would agree. Yet you, Wikipedia, as a collective, would not. What is your basis for this? Am I less important than you?

Other Things I Do

  1. Music - I've spent nearly six years writing music, in the hopes of one day recording it with a band.
  2. Fan Fiction - I'm an avid writer, and for the same six years, I've been writing, first fan fiction, then fiction of my own. Again, someday I hope to publish.

Other Stuff: The Best of the Small Time

I'm a geek. Get over it. It's what led my girlfriend wife to fall in love with me. I especially enjoy science fiction/fantasy, with a special emphasis on Star Trek and Star Wars. I do some computer programming in my free time, when I feel like it, and I'm quite handy with HTML, Java, and XML. I also have a passing knowledge of CSS stylesheets and XHTML.
