Grigorije Račanin

Grigorije Račanin (Bajna Basta, c. 1670 - Osijek, Slavonia, after 1739) was a Serbian monk-scribe and traveler who wrote a travelogue, "From Osijek to Kraiova", though the original is no longer in existence. He was born in the Bajina Basta area where the famed Raca monastery and the Scriptorium School of Rača was situated before a portion of the entire population was ethnically cleansed by the marauding Turks in 1689. He went first to establish himself in Szentendre before settling in Osijek, Slavonia.

Like all Račan members, he was skilled in his craft. The Museum of the Serbian Orthodox Church is in possession of a small number of ornately decorated manuscripts by unknown scribes, though a few have been identified, namely Teodor Račanin, Kiprijan Račanin, Jerotej Račanin, Simeon Račanin, Hristifor Račanin, Čirjak Račanin and others.
