The Ganz (Ganz vállalatok, "Ganz companies") electric works in Budapest is probably best known for the manufacture of tramcars, but was also a pioneer in the application of three-phase alternating current to electric railways. See also railway electrification systems.

It is named after Ábrahám Ganz.

In 1982-83 Ganz-Mavag supplied an order for electric multiple units to New Zealand Rail for Wellington suburban services, consisting of 44 powered units EM and 44 trailer units ET, see NZR EM class.
