Summary

Description
English: A peek into the private world of upper class Roman women. Set in what appear to be a garden peristyle, a female musician holds a kithara on her leg, and perhaps tunes a sambuca, an Asiatic curved harp. Three other women listen to her performance.

The women in this panel are all dressed in several colorful layers; tunics, stolas (only married women could wear these), and pallas (wraps/shawls). The musician’s palla is semi-transparent, perhaps made of the finest linen.

Additionally, a gorgeously decorated fabric has been placed on the kline (couch).
