Recent changes

• A more efficient way of sending changes from Wikidata to Wikimedia wikis that show them has been enabled for the following 10 wikis: mediawiki.org, the Italian, Catalan, Hebrew and Vietnamese Wikipedias, French Wikisource, and English Wikivoygage, Wikibooks, Wiktionary and Wikinews. If you notice anything strange about how changes from Wikidata appear in recent changes or your watchlist on those wikis you can let the developers know.

Changes later this week

• The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 5 October. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 6 October. It will be on all wikis from 7 October (calendar).
• Some gadgets and bots that use the API to read the AbuseFilter log might break. The hidden property will no longer say an entry is implicit for unsuppressed log entries about suppressed edits. If your bot needs to know this, do a separate revision query. Additionally, the property will have the value false for visible entries; previously, it wasn't included in the response. [1]

Huggle revert?

User:JPxG, before reverting me, can you see the discussion at Talk:Breast_tax#Redirect? An IP is disrupting the page by removing the redirect when the consensus is towards the redirect and his only reason is "Upper caste people want to hide this totally".[5] I am basically reverting the vandalism here. Okay, this looks to me like a complicated enough issue that it should be resolved by an AfD rather than local talk page consensus... there was an AfD last year and a DRV that concluded "keep" (not "redirect"). Question

I would rather answer your question here, than create more work for the closer of the RfC. I think this RfC would have been as just avoidable as the first one, had Shibbolethink agreed to stick to the sources. Unfortunately, this is not the case, and JoelleJay is arguing that this group's claims aren't WP:DUE, while PaleoNeonate argues that the page should not have passed WP:AFD. I actually don't have a problem calling them activists, so long as it's not the only descriptor, and I also don't mind citing WP:MEDRS for BALANCE, where possible. However, due to the censorship in China, balance won't actually be possible, and this is a key point that editors will have to grapple with for a long time to come. 217.35.76.147 (talk) 22:02, 10 October 2021 (UTC)

Dundee Public Art Programme

HI, I don't know if this is the correct way of communicating and as I unfamiliar with the format. Can I please ask that you don't refer to me in the article. Also the quote re debt and SAC funding is incorrect and misleading. SAC changed their funding to all public art agencies at this time and was not due to the finances of DPAP. And there is a lot more detail around the DPAP finances which cannot simply be summed up as 'debt' with the implication that this caused the end of the programme. The decision to wind down the company was based on the decline of opportunities in the city and there was simply no need for a full time development organisation of its type. Many other companies managing public art programmes in the UK went through similar situations - they were very much of their time. And in that context, given all the good work to sustain the programme for as long as we did and create lots of opportunities for artists in the city and beyond, it was shocking to see the description 'inexperienced' next to my name and all that it infers. Sorry, I believe that was the result of an edit conflict, although it is a bit strange (every other time I've had an edit conflict, it gave me an alert prior to saving the page). Perhaps this is the fault of the MediaWiki software (as AN/I has by far the most revisions of any page on any Wikimedia project, and strange things happen there sometimes). At any rate, I didn't intend to remove anyone else's comments, so if you haven't already done so, I will go and try to fix whatever happened. jp×g 04:26, 26 October 2021 (UTC)

Recent changes

• There is a limit on the amount of emails a user can send each day. This limit is now global instead of per-wiki. This change is to prevent abuse. [12]

Changes later this week

• The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 2 November. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 3 November. It will be on all wikis from 4 November (calendar).
