Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
Appearance
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

Uncontroversial technical requests
- Malik bin al-Harith (currently a redirect to Malik al-Ashtar) → Malik ibn al-Harith (currently a redirect instead to Malik al-Ashtar) (move · discuss) – Early Islamic figures are all written with "ibn" instead of "bin" such as Ammar ibn Yasir, Khalid ibn al-Walid, Amr ibn al-As, Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr, Abd Allah ibn al-Zubayr etc. Literally all are spelled this way, "bin" is more used on modern articles such as Mohammed bin Salman, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan etc. Shi'anAliIbnAbiTalib (talk) 10:08, 19 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hermoton (currently a redirect to Hermaion) → Hermaion (move · discuss) – "Hermaion" and "Hermoton" are thought to be the same place, but "Hermaion" is the name found in the older and more detailed sources, so that's the main form used in the article. "Hermaion" is currently a redirect to "Hermoton", and is blocking the move. Would have requested this sooner, but held off on page move while the article was at AfD. P Aculeius (talk) 20:58, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
- Stephen Kirk (handballer) (currently a redirect to Stephen Kirk) → Stephen Kirk (move · discuss) – Steve Kirk (disambiguation) currently lists only two articles: Steve Kirk and Stephen Kirk (handballer). Rather than using a pointless disambiguation page, it'd be much better to move Stephen Kirk (handballer) to Stephen Kirk and add an {{about}} hatnote for each article saying "For the footballer/handballer, see Steve/Stephen Kirk". - Some notes with further thoughts: the Brazilian municipality occupied the primary title until four minutes before this request was submitted. A review of the pageviews suggests that the cacique's page has generally had more monthly views (42 vs. 21 on average) since it entered mainspace about a year and a half ago. I have no strong opinion on the proposed move myself; my goal in posting this information is mainly to provide other page movers with easy access to the information they might need to form an opinion themselves. ModernDayTrilobite (talk • contribs) 20:09, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
- Comment: ModernDayTrilobite, also the 3,700-inhabitant municipality is ultimately named after the cacique, not the other way around. But thanks for the notes. RodRabelo7 (talk) 20:34, 18 December 2023 (UTC)

- Draft:Dragon Ball Z: Shin Butōden (currently a redirect to Dragon Ball Z: Shin Butōden) → Dragon Ball Z: Shin Butōden (move · discuss) – This draft is a new version of the article ready for publication. The current redirect was formerly an article, so I feel the edit histories should be merged for continuity. BOZ (talk) 02:33, 19 December 2023 (UTC)
- George Selwyn (bishop of Lichfield) (currently a redirect to George Selwyn (Bishop of New Zealand)) → George Selwyn (bishop of New Zealand) (currently a redirect instead to George Selwyn (Bishop of New Zealand)) (move · discuss) – Primary source of notability seems to be for his NZ role.
