Upcoming Edits

[edit]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I am preparing to edit this wikipedia page with some information regarding artists and their influences in the Caribbean. After reading Sionk's excerpt on the talk page I felt that this page has a lot of history about art in the Caribbean but has a lack of actual artwork or artists being displayed. I thought it could help to make the page more engaging to discuss specific artists, their backgrounds, and some of their renowned works. I would love to hear anyone's opinion on including this type of content into this wikipedia page.

Thank you for hearing me out! Parker13125 (talk) 03:00, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Off topic, non art info

[edit]

C'mon, most of this article is not about art but the history and geography of the Caribbean islands. And the section about French Caribbean art begins "Currently little or no research has been done to highlight the early French influenced art forms originating in the Caribbean." Therefore it's pretty clear there is not much else to say. The online blog entry already cited, says "Afro-Caribbean art can be called modern because, aside from the work of European itinerant artists, there is sparse evidence of local art production in any of the islands prior to the 20th century." Therefore the article should be pared right back until there is something published on which to base the article/sections (though there seems to be no art to talk about for many areas of this region prior to 1900).
