Lion tongue story

[edit]

Anyone have a source for the tale of the sculptor who jumped into the river? It's a funny story, but might just as well have been made up by a vandal. Fireinacrowdedtheatre (talk) 10:38, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The story definitely exist – and is not a vandal-fiction ;) – as a popular anecdote. According to urbanlegends.hu, it's an urban legend with countless sources. Bennó (talk) 21:31, 4 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lion issue

[edit]

CORRECTION! The Lutyens link leads to Sir Edwin Lutyens (not born till 1869) who was named after Edwin Landseer, the sculptor of the Trafalgar Square lions installed in 1858. If the Budapest lions are of 1852, then designed by whom? Budapest expert please check - moved from article, posted there by 81.152.51.35 - Denimadept (talk) 18:35, 11 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

war damage and repair

[edit]

Is there any info on what parts were damaged in WW2 and subsequently repaired or rebuilt? A picture of the damaged bridge would be very helpful. ( Siege_of_Budapest says it was destroyed/blown-up by the Germans on 18 Jan 1945.) - Rod57 (talk) 13:07, 27 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
