Edit summaries

Help others keep track of what is happening to a page by filling in the edit summary.

Abbreviations may bewilder newcomers and old-timers alike. The Wikipedia system will help you make repetitive summaries: It keeps track of what you have written previously in your summaries, so you can type just a few characters, then choose from a popup menu for ease of completion.

[edit]

How do I create or edit the articles --Gpsc87587 (talk) 07:48, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Gpsc87587 Good day and thank you for the questions. To edit an article, click on "edit source" on the top left of the article and start editing. However, any info added or changed need to be supported by independent, reliable source such as from the newspapers or books. To add the inline citation of the claim, pls use the horizontal format of Template:Cite Web if the source is from the web. I strongly suggest you to complete a short program - WP:TWA to understand the basic guidelines of Wikipedia prior editing. To create an article, the subject needs meet ]WP:GNG = the subject needs to have significant coverage from independent, reliable sources such as from books and major newspaper where by the sources talk about the subject in length and in depth and not passing mentioned for verification. Pls note that all source media, subject website, or any sources that is related to the subject can be used to contribute to the criteria of GNG. I suggest you to read WP:Your first article and follow the instructions. in addition, pls read the welcome message I sent you. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 07:58, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Nathanshand94 (17:10, 8 August 2024)

[edit]

Hello

How are you? how do I upload a photo to use ? --Nathanshand94 (talk) 17:10, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Nathanshand94 Good day and thank you for the questions. Photo or images can ONLY be uploaded if you are the WP:copyright holder which means you are the one who took the photo. If not that you will be violate the copyright guidelines and pls note that Wikipedia take copyright violation very seriously as it entail legal issues. If you want to upload a photo, then pls read the Wikipedia:Uploading images and Wikipedia:Image use policy guidelines and instructions. Once you have done so, then yo can upload the photo on HERE at Wikipedia Common (follow the instructions) . Once you have successfully uploaded the photo then click "use this file" with a "W" icon next to it and copy the "thumnail" link and past it to the intended article at Wikipedia. I understand you are a model (as indicated in your user page), if you want to upload a photo of yourself and it is taken by your photographer, then your photographer (NOT you) need to upload the photo themselves and has to release his copyright holder right for EVERYONE to use the photo.
I saw you sandbox and I believe you want to you want to write about youself. Pls note that any subject (in this case is you) needs to pass the WP:GNG guidelines. (pls note that Wikipedia is an enclyopedia and not a social media platform). To have a mainspace in Wikipedia, the subject needs to have significant coverage from independent, reliable sources, such as form the MAJOR newspapers and books, whereby the sources talk about the subject in length and in-depth and not merely passing mention for verification. Pls note that all social medias (including Utube, X, blogs) , subject webpage, any sources that is associated, related, affiliated with the subjects are considered not independent or reliable which they can NOT be used to contribute to the GNG (notability) guidelines requested by Wikipedia. Pls read WP:Your first article for further info. Let me know if you need futher assistance as I am heere to help. Thank you and best. Cassiopeia talk 23:26, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi, Cassiopeia. I'm actually a staff member at the Wikimedia Foundation, working on the wikitext parser. But I really appreciate that you are helping folks as a mentor. If I can help /you/ with anything, let me know! --C. Scott Ananian (he/him) (talk) 17:54, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Cscott Good day Dr. Ananian. Thank you very much for reaching out and offering your assistance. I genuinely appreciate it, as receiving such outreach is incredibly valuable. I am a little surprised how you found out about me as I am not a editor in MediaWiki (I wish I am one and currently learning about basic computer topic since I want to have a career change). I will accept your offer for a rain check and once again thank you. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 00:23, 9 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
