Delete - Unlikely search term - Searching it on Google yields no results where the term may be used - RichT|C|E-Mail 23:20, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment As the creator of this redirect I figure I can't vote either way, but the term "Cromwellate" does pop up occasionally in 19th century English texts (as can be seen by searching the term on Google Books), which is why I made said redirect. --Ismail (talk) 23:53, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. Contrary to the nominator, searching on Google does bring up results using the word in this context, particularly old works by Charles Badham and Samuel Taylor Coleridge. These results were found searching directly on Google rather than through Google Books. Searching on Google Books I was able to find those results plus other uses, such as this 19th century periodical. The article mentions Cromwell; I don't think it would be too suprising as an {{r from synonym}}. – Scyrme (talk) 00:46, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
As a note, of the results I saw for Coleridge some were later works quoting him such as Roberta Florence Brinkley's Coleridge on the Seventeenth Century (1955) and Robert Conquest's We & They (1980). A reader could, then, encounter the term in more recent works without having to dig through old 19th publications. – Scyrme (talk) 01:00, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

These should point to the same place and both seem far too vague. Compare unrelated Maoist insurgencies at Maoist insurgency in Bangladesh, Maoist insurgency in Turkey and Internal conflict in Peru. I guess we may need a disambiguation page or retarget to Maoism. The second was created by a sock apparently known for questionable redirect creations (albeit before the block so not eligible for G5), and the first by a user with a grand total of two edits. * Pppery * it has begun... 22:28, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not mentioned at target. Only mentioned in some steroid templates such as Template:Structural properties of selected estradiol esters where it was linked, but I have edited these links to point to aromatic, which is the relevant property, as fatty acid is already linked with the redirect straight-chain fatty acid. Mdewman6 (talk) 22:15, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Delete as D10: the redirect could plausibly be expanded into an article, and the target article contains virtually no information on the subject. Wikipedia doesn't appear to have a general overview anywhere. The only mentions in articles are uses describing specific examples as such. Best to clear the way until relevant content is added somewhere, whether as a new article at this title or as a section somewhere else. – Scyrme (talk) 23:09, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This is a leftover from a request made at Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests. At Rann of Kutch conflict there has been some controversy over whether that article should be called "Operation Desert Hawk" which was an associated operation. That resulted in some messy page moves in which someone misspelled a key word in the title as "Dessert". After cleaning up the page titles, this redirect with the misspelled word remains. I recommend deletion as basic housekeeping. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 19:38, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This was decided at this AfD Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/YouTube Top 100 to become a redirect to Billboard Social 50 which itself became a redirect when that page was moved to List of Billboard Social 50 number-one artists; however, this page was retargeted to YouTube 31 minutes after the close of the AfD back in 2013. It seems like there was not consensus for this to be an article as its own back in 2013, and seeing as there is no information on it and the unsuitability of Billboard Social 50, which includes data from far more platforms than just youtube, that it would be best deleted. Unused; one of the roughly 20 quite unusual redirects/shortcuts to stub templates that do not reference stubs, and the only two "-bio" redirects to "-bio-stub"s. • Delete. These all exist only because they were originally created at these illogical and improper titles in the first place, and were then moved (by me) to the correct naming format after I found them. It's just an oversight of forgetting to unclick the "retain redirect" checkbox (which is checked by default and has to be actively unchecked if the redirect is not desired, but is very frequently overlooked by many editors who perform page moves), and isn't really necessary to retain any of them permanently. Bearcat (talk) 15:57, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge completed. Since this was partly explained in the vote left while I was still nominating the templates, I will add the following part, which I was going to add to the nomination, as a separate comment: All result from page moves, some immediately after the template creation, the others some time later, but none are currently being transcluded. 1234qwer1234qwer4 16:07, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete as unlikely search term. InfiniteNexus (talk) 18:15, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as D10. There's a link to it at Beebase which doesn't appear to be intended as a link to Google Chrome. Searching online, most results are for unrelated software, including the file browser. The closest relevant result I could find was a mention at History of Google: "There were also rumors of a Google web browser, fueled much by the fact that Google was the owner of the domain name "gbrowser.com".[citation needed] These were later proven when Google released Google Chrome." If this is true maybe "GBrowser" was an internal name used during initial development, but that's just a guess and it's obvious that Chrome has never publically gone by that name. It's equally obvious that Chrome isn't the primary topic for the term "GBrowser". The title should be vacated for more appropriate use and allow redlinking at pages like Beebase (WP:REDYES). – Scyrme (talk) 18:54, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The article Predacons was redirected to List of Beast Wars characters#Predacons because of lack of notability to merit a separate article. The problem is, not all Predacons are Beast Wars characters. Indeed, the term "Predacons" was coined and first marketed about a decade before "Beast Wars" was even a glimpse in Hasbro's imagination. For the entirety of the six years that this page used to be a separate article, it covered the original Generation 1 Predacons in equal detail. There seems to also be incoming link referring to the original Generation 1 Predacons. This redirect should probably be retargeted (although I don't know where to) or converted into a disambiguation page. JIP | Talk 08:37, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment I intended to close this as nothing has been mentioned since August, and everyone has suggested some means of disambiguation. Abdullah II is, at least in the present, the WP:PTOPIC of this article, as he is the incumbent king. I don't think it was yet addressed, but currently Abdullah of Jordan exists in the same manner of a disambiguation page, between Abdullah I and II. Whether the disambiguation is done via its own page, or by a hatnote, it does seem as if there is precedent when clarifying which of the two kings is being referred. Seems vague and ambiguous. Could this refer to Ethnocentrism per the redirect’s creator, or something else like an English language bias of sorts? R#D10 situation, probably? I don't think this is a good {{R to subtopic}} (readers probably want info on electric grid security in general, not US electric grid security), and Electrical grid doesn't have much about security in it. An article was previously at this title, but it was entirely about the US and was moved to where this currently targets. Retarget to English rose (epithet). People using this search term may be coming from the song (though a redirect from the full lyric "Goodbye England's Rose" already exists), but may also be looking for the woman that lyric referred to (Diana, Princess of Wales) or other women referred to by the epithet. estar8806 (talk) 23:51, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Out of curiosity I looked up pageview stats (90 days prior to today) for the articles linked from the proposed target. The top entries are:
    • Kate Winslet: 1,388,904
    • Kate Beckinsale: 1,229,169
    • Emma Watson: 1,104,968
    • Diana, Princess of Wales: 882,579
The current target has less than 40k. Pageviews are an unreliable metric but this does seem to indicate that there is no individual who is the primary target, and so the phrase should target the epithet page. Also just noting that Goodbye England's rose does not exist, but Goodbye England's Rose does. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 17:45, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep per Bernanke's Crossbow. Are any of the women at English rose (epithet) ever referred to as "England's Rose"? Maybe Diana, and only then in the context of Candle in the Wind. Googling for "England's Rose" "Kate Winslet" (as the most viewed article on an English rose per Ivanvector above) just gets me a bunch of articles which mention both Kate Winslet and Candle in the Wind 1997. Caeciliusinhorto-public (talk) 09:21, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Diana, Princess of Wales, with a hatnote to the song, and to either the epithet page or English rose (a dab page where "England's Rose" entries would be appropriate). The comment above made me rethink this: pageviews don't give any indication of usage of this term to refer to those individuals, only a vague sense of how well-known they are in general. When I enter "england's rose" in Google I get about 900M results, almost all about Diana, the Elton John song, or horticultural websites. Google does continuous scroll now so I can't tell which page I'm on when I find results for anything else, but I scrolled an awful lot before I gave up without seeing any other usage. Then I searched terms like "england's rose diana", "england's rose kate beckinsale", and so on, and Diana was the most prominent by roughly a factor of 10; about 25M to 5M for the song; "goodbye england's rose" hit 14M for comparison. The redirect should target what readers are most likely looking for when they enter the term, and a hatnote can direct the minority of readers looking for the song or some other target. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 14:36, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep with hatnote to English rose. External search results are dominated by 3 topics: the song, Diana, and the cultivar of roses named "England's Rose" listed at David C. H. Austin. Results for Diana were not independent of the song, with most of them including some reference to the full title of the song "Goodbye England's Rose", so I would say that the song is the primary topic. Diana is already prominently linked at the current target.
My first thought seeing the title was actually Tudor rose, the heraldic emblem of England, but external search results suggest it's a distant fourth. Searching alongside other keywords does bring up references to Tudor rose, so it shouldn't be ruled out that readers may be looking for it. Both the cultivar and heraldic emblem are covered at English rose, as is the epithet, so a separate disambiguation page would be entirely redundant. – Scyrme (talk) 19:27, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not a plausible misspelling, delete. Mdewman6 (talk) 01:07, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm looking really closely to see the difference, I think this is just swapping the "y" and the "l"? "Triglycerides" is quite a tough word to spell in general, and if it's just this one letter swap I'd consider this to be a very plausible/totally harmless redirect. Naturally we don't want to make a redirect for every single letter swappage in every word ever, but this has existed for 7 or so years and seems fair to include in an admittedly tricky word. Keep. Utopes (talk / cont) 02:09, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment single character transpositions are a very easy and commonly found form of typo. Any two adjacent letter swap would therefore be very plausible. -- 65.92.244.99 (talk) 20:55, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Common typing mistakes indeed, but not plausible misspellings, i.e., a misspelling that would intentionally be typed, which are the sort of misspellings that make good redirects. This is harmless, probably, but also WP:COSTLY and WP:PANDORA to support the notion that when an editor inverts two letters and reaches search results rather than the intended page, they should create a redirect. IMHO, we should not be encouraging that, and there is no problem with cleaning up such redirects. Mdewman6 (talk) 22:46, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
We have {{R from typo}} and leaving it be is not encouraging the creation of more. This was created in 2016, not this year, so isn't a newly created typo redirect. If it were a newly created one, IIRC, there's a speedy delete for it. Thus it would seem to be WP:CHEAP and not costly, as it's been there for several years unnoticed, not really breaking anything. -- 65.92.244.99 (talk) 03:36, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was Delete. Thryduulf (talk) 17:31, 26 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Term not mentioned at target or anywhere else on enwiki; there previously was an article at this title that was deleted per Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/PCSO-524_(2nd_nomination) where consensus was to delete, not redirect (though WP:G4 doesn't seem to apply). Mdewman6 (talk) 23:27, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. This is a trademark name for the compound a mussel extract. The deleted version of the article contained seven scholarly sources that mentioned it by this trademark name in the title of the paper. It is not unusual for trade names to redirect to the generic name, it aids searching, and there is no requirement for the article to mention any trade names at all. The redirect was created from the suggestion of Doc James in the AFD, and concurred by Sbalfour. I concurred also, so I created it. ~Anachronist (talk) 23:45, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
But "polyunsaturated fatty acid" is not a specific compound, but a class of compounds, so this is not a tradename for a specific compound. I can't see the previous article obviously, but it appears to simply be a non-notable product that contained polyunsaturated fatty acids. Without a mention, this redirect is more likely to confuse than to aid users. Mdewman6 (talk) 00:03, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree it would be confusing at all. We don't have an article on the specific product extracted from the New Zealand green-lipped mussel, but we have an article on the class of substances to which it belongs. Therefore a redirect is appropriate. In a nutshell (from the deleted article): "PCSO-524 is a patented marine lipid extract containing 30 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) including the essential omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA. It is extracted from the New Zealand green-lipped mussel (Perna canaliculus). PCSO-524 is the ingredient in several preparations including Lyprinol marketed outside the United States and Omega XL marketed in the United States." Here's one source explaining the relation betwee PCSO-524 and Lyprinol (both are brand names). Just do a search for PCSO-524 and you get all sorts of academic papers about it, including several on PubMed. Again, there is zero requirement for a general article to mention specific brand names. Anyone who knows enough to search for PCSO-524 would get relevant information. ~Anachronist (talk) 06:13, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Then how about a sourced mention added to New Zealand green-lipped mussel, and retarget there? Without a mention, this redirect is just astonishing and therefore a bad redirect. See also Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Lyprinol. Mdewman6 (talk) 20:13, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Mdewman6: That's fine. It could even redirect to the section New Zealand green-lipped mussel#Anti-inflammatory effects. ~Anachronist (talk) 15:49, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Too vague to identify the meaning. The rcat notes the emoji is called "Grinning Face with One Large and One Small Eye" which doesn't translate to "insanity" in my book. Delete Edward-Woodrow :) [talk] 12:08, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Keep or redirect. Good thing your book isn't a community guideline or policy. Gonnym (talk) 12:38, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
But it's so vague that any target could be unhelpful. It could equally refer to, say, someone having a lot of fun at a party. Edward-Woodrow :) [talk] 13:01, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Vague to you does not mean it is so vague. Support your arguments with actual evidence. Finally as I said in other places, you can always redirect to the emoji table. Not everything needs to go to RfC just because you don't understand or like the current target. Gonnym (talk) 13:19, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Gonnym: WP:REMOJI (the existing precedent on the matter): The outcome is usually deletion if the glyph is unclear, its meaning is difficult to determine, or there is no consensus on a target. What evidence is there that this emoji unambiguously means "insanity"? This is the core problem here. Edward-Woodrow :) [talk] 15:37, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That is an essay. Essay don't mean anything. Gonnym (talk) 16:04, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It represents the existing precedent. Regardless, it is vague and should be deleted, a rule that applies to all redirects. Edward-Woodrow :) [talk] 16:27, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No, it is just an essay that doesn't represent any precedent in reality. Every base emoji has a Wikipedia redirect, and there are currently no exceptions. Enix150 (talk) 20:08, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

(Nominator comment) I'd like to point out that the appearance of this emoji varies across devices, and its interpretation across individuals, further reinforcing my central point in favour of deletion: it is so vague that it could refer to a multitude of targets. With this level of vagueness, as what is fundamentally an arrangement of pixels could be interpreted in a multitude of ways, I still strongly believe that it is best to delete this redirect. Edward-Woodrow :) [talk] 15:53, 9 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Edward-Woodrow: The most common outcome in these types of discussions is to retarget to Supplemental Symbols and Pictographs (consistent with WP:REMOJI) which is the preferred target when an emoji is considered to be "vague", as other editors have already pointed out above. Deletion on the other hand would be pointless, since the emoji redirect will likely be re-created anyway. CycloneYoris talk! 23:30, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Edward-Woodrow: the Weary Cat Face emoji renders nearly identically across all devices and platforms. That argument may be valid elsewhere, but in this case there is very little difference between versions. Enix150 (talk) 20:55, 9 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Commenting on this; the appearance does not change as almost all emojis have been updated to have virtually the same appearance on all emoji platforms, and most of these emojis have clear definitions defined via Unicode or via all platforms giving the emoji a name. If you're on windows and hit the windows and period key at the same time, you get an emoji menu. The name of this emoji is called "Weary cat" by Windows, Apple, Emojipedia, and every other website that has emojis. So, to that effect, I feel this redirect should be treated as if "weary cat" is the title's input. I personally think it should target the same place that the 😩 emoji targets, which is defined as the "weary emoji" by all emoji vendors, as "weary" (😩) and "weary cat" (🙀) represent the same emotion.
As a side note, I would recommend you (Edward-Woodrow) (and also Enix150 for that matter) be cautious of possibly bludgeoning every emoji discussion with the same discussion points. Utopes (talk / cont) 06:06, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
