Don't do reviews often, but I've found it's so hard to get reliable, communicative, fair priced handyman help in the city that I felt like I need to drop a review.
Our handyman hero, Samuel Hernandez, showed up on time, communicative on all the right asks, stayed on budget, did the work they promised they'd do, and overall very respectful. Called the next week for more work after having such a positive experience.
Work: installed tv mount + new outlet within a mantle, added an butcher block extension to counter top, removed old bathroom screen doors.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jason P.San Francisco, United States955111419 Jul 2024
I guess I won't know . I call to schedule a "Hero" seriously! I gave my address my phone number. The Tara ? Wanted to create a profile... I was asked for an email. I responded can you text me any information? A hero would be texting me before arrival. Tara insisted that I must give an email! I expressed .. I have 12,000 emails most of them are because services I have used have sold my information. I explained I spend hours unsubscribing from where places such as Prescription Rx have sold my info claiming to save me money . Tara went Mr Parker to Jason I don't think we will be a good fit. I am assuming again. My information would be sold .
I contacted another handy person. He was available in 2 days and his prices were 30% lower. Than these heroesHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Jason -
We're sorry for any misunderstanding you may have had.
As a business, we do utilize email in order to communicate with our clients, but please be assured that we never ever ever EVER sell that information to any third-party. Nor will we. I hate getting spam as much as anyone else does.
Best regards

This is the first time I have written about Handyman Heroes but we have hired them on three separate occasions to do work at our house. I wish I could remember the names of the people that did the previous two projects because they were spectacular. This latest project was supervised and worked on by Samuel Hernandez. He did an awesome job on a variety of projects we needed to complete. Samuel and his assistant made sure that every detail was completed to perfection. They installed a door, a bathroom ceiling fan and ductwork, repaired another door, repaired and made a window secure that was in a vulnerable place so that it is now impenetrable, painted ... I know that I'm forgetting something else. But ... They did a lot! Samuel Hernandez was a complete professional and very upbeat. Just a very nice guy who knew how to do everything he was tasked with and was meticulous.
You may pay slightly more with Handyman Heroes than with the guys who drop cards in your mailbox but you are getting real professionals to do the job who are licensed and bonded and you know they will not disappear overnight if something goes wrong. That has actually happened to us before with other jobs when we hired just general workers coming from friends recommendations. Being licensed and bonded and insured is important so it's well worth a few extra dollars to make sure that you're getting a professional and also that they are going to do the job to perfection.
Another great job by Handyman Heroes. Thanks Samuel Hernandez and all the other workers who came on the previous jobs. Extremely satisfied customer here!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Robert H.San Francisco, United States02712 Jun 2024
I've been living in my spot for a decade and have had plenty of experiences with contractors and companies...
The job: remove, assess, and replace the flooring of a laundry room
Duane and Samuel from Handman Heroes lifted my stupid heavy washer/dryer setup, ripped up the previous flooring, identified and removed potential dry rot, placed down underlayment, PERFECTLY utilized the 10 slates of vinyl tiling I bought, bing bang boom-- they did such a perfect job. Seriously.
Duane and Sam were the ones who helped me and they were just exactly what you'd want from a contractor. Granted, I'm an outgoing and easygoing person who has worked in service/basic maintenance before (I'm pathetically gloating, hence why I'm here). BUT the most endearing part was that it was that Duane and Samuel had a balance of professionalism and a down-to-earth attitude that made you feel at home... in your home.
OH and they knocked this project out in 4 hours. I LOVE DOING LAUNDRY NOW (pictures attached)
You'd be privileged to have them. 10/10 across the boardHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Cory S.San Francisco, United States0212 Sept 2024Updated review
Great service as always from Handyman Heroes! I used them to do a full gut reno on my bathroom and light kitchen updates a year ago, had a plumber back to do an unrelated small job in my kitchen earlier this year, and just had them back a third time a couple of weeks ago for a small electrical project to add a couple outlets in my living room. Damon and Omar did the last job and they were efficient and knowledgable--the final bill was a great value in my eyes. Would highly recommend Handyman Heroes for anything from small jobs to a major renovation.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 06 Aug 2023Previous reviewHandyman Heroes handled a full remodel of my condo, including a gut renovation to the bathroom, extensive electrical work, and some updates to the kitchen. Miguel and Vince were easy to work with, understood what I wanted, and were very communicative throughout the process. When I was stymied at sourcing a fabricator for the new marble countertops, one of their staff even worked his personal network to find a fabricator that would take my small job. He coordinated everything himself despite this not being an official subcontract for Handyman Heroes. They also handled all of the permitting with the city and we didn't run into any real issues there. Throughout the process, they were very professional and dealt with the myriad hassles that come with renovating a condo (limited work hours, hauling things up and down elevators, limited parking, etc.). Like any significant construction project, we ran into challenges and unexpected issues, but I would highly recommend working with them and would personally again. Renovations are always a hassle and you're bound to tussle with your contractor once in a while, but overall they truly were fantastic. Highly recommended!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. We are so grateful HH declined our request for plumbing, electrical and general repair/installation projects.
HH original estimate was $7000 and we eliminated some projects and the final estimate was $5000. We are going to ask questions and change projects with spending this amount of money. We are seniors living on a fixed income.
HH decided they could not deal with changing plans or asking for info on items which need to be replaced. HH charges a 30% mark-up. HH responded they could not help us. We are beyond grateful for your decision. We found a licensed plumber who replaced and installed our leaking toilet valve for $200. Our approximate total expenditure for labor and parts will be less than $2500. Again, WE can't thank enough for the significant amount of money you saved us by declining our job! .Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Business owner information

Hi J C,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad to hear that you were able to find a solution that fits your needs and budget.
We understand how important it is to manage costs effectively, especially when living on a fixed income, and we're sorry to hear that our process didn’t meet your expectations. Our goal is to provide close to accurate estimates and clear communication, and we appreciate your understanding as we tried to navigate the revisions and materials list. We also mailed you a check for the $85.00 site survey charge last month as we were unable to help you with your needs.
We wish you all the best with your plumbing and repair projects and hope everything turns out great. If you ever need assistance in the future, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Best regards,
HH Team

We had someone come to waterproof our windows.
Samuel Hernandez was our Handyman Hero and he was great. He did a fantastic job, was communicative and went above and beyond to make sure the job was done to the best possible standards.

I used Handyman Heroes for the first time recently for some carpentry and installing three light fixtures (they have a three-hour minimum and are pricey, so you're better off bundling your tasks). My Hero, Duane Quinn, was great. He was on time, worked efficiently and effectively, kept me posted on what he was doing, and was professional and kind. If I need HH again, I'll definitely ask for Duane as he was a joy to work with.

My wife and I hired Handyman Heroes to install two awnings and to repair our stairs. They finished everything in a timely manner but the quality of work was poor, not done as was agreed and they used interior wood on the awnings. I contacted the company and the owner of the company came out to inspect the work. He took full responsibility and he had another crew come out and complete the job in two days. Honesty and integrity are rare commodities. That experience taught me that handyman heroes can be trusted to get the job done.
