Incredible. After putting up with much poorer service for years I have to say I left our appointment today elated that we have a new vet to come to. Everyone here was extremely friendly, helpful and professional. I brought my golden in because I had a concern about a bump on him and he was overdue for a wellness check up, we saw Dr. Bechtel and I don't think my dog knows that we were there for any reason other than a friendly visit. We were in and out promptly with a follow up appointment for boosters booked before I even got to the checkout counter. Like I said, extremely efficient. I'm so grateful!
The only potential issue I could see for newcomers is with parking (there's only 3 spots in front and all the spots directly outside were taken when I arrived but that's showbiz). I learned today there are some spots if you turn onto mission so I will try that next time.
Thank you to all who helped us. (Especially Tej who helped me get set up and booked for my first appointment over the phone). In terms of the booking and invoices etc once you get set up it's extremely smooth. I got my invoice via email as well as a summary of my dogs treatment plans and I get text alerts for appointments. Couldn't have gone better in my opinion.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Don't go here. They may treat you alright but the other reviews about the money gouge are right. I've been stuck in this Care Club contract for almost a year and it feels like a total scam. I was led to believe that it was worth it and would provide my cat with good services but in reality, it doesn't do anything and I have to pay $$$ every month. To get out of this contract, I'd have to pay $1k, more than I owe at this point! How is that appropriate? Also, make sure you cancel this care club contract because it will auto-renew another year unless you say something!!! This is a total scam and I've been taken advantage of. They take advantage of pet owners in their most vulnerable state.

Used them for years when Dan was running the operation as soon as VCA took over - downhill. Couldn't ever get reasonable appointments. Had to dump them altogether. They used to be the best vet in the city .... Can't say the same for them now. I give them no stars but had to give one to post this.

I think the staff treat dogs and owners very great. BUT, this place is extremely tricky and shady. Care Club is NOT what they advertise it to be. I was paying money out of pocket every single visit if it were for anything other than vaccines. Every visit is a money grab, they want to get u to pay the most amount of money, and don't rlly care about the best care for your pet. THEN I find out that I can't even cancel this membership to take my dog to a vet that actually cares and isn't trying to take all my money because apparently now I'm in a 12 month contract. My "membership" fees are no longer paying for my membership but paying off the services I've received for my pup so far. Only way to cancel this service is to pay off a settlement of almost 1k for the services (vaccines only) I've received over the last 4 months. They're so tricky when it comes to money and I HATE that. I will never be going back no matter how "nice" they are.

The response from VCA is a blatant lie. I know that it happened less than 24 hours after he was originally seen and given the shot. I rushed him there and he died an extremely painful death thanks to your incompetence. The reason I know it was Sunday because when I called to cancel the blood analysis, I was lied to and told it was done. The LABS aren't open on the weekend. You just had to squeeze every last dollar out of this misery.
This DID happen many years ago. Maybe there have been changes since but Sarah D.'s post is dated 8/9/2023. Sure sounds like you continue to price gouge your clients. If this was a human medical practice you would have been shut down decades ago. With animals, you can get away with this crap.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Business owner information

Kaiwen, we'd like to offer our condolences for your loss, as we understand how heartbreaking it is to have to say goodbye to a beloved pet. However, we are taken aback by your comments. Along with this, we have never been open on Sundays, so we believe a different hospital is being described here. Please know that we wish you nothing but the best.
23 Nov 2023Previous reviewIf you want to be fleeced out of as much money as possible AND in return for that, deal with an incompetent medical staff, go no further. This is the spot to take your animal to be tortured and killed. My incident happened many years ago. I've tried to erase it from my memory but to no avail. Had a cat that was misdiagnosed by another garbage vet who was treating him for a thyroid condition. He wasn't improving so they took a bunch of x-rays and referred me to this shithole. It was a Saturday. Brought the x-rays and the "doctor" drew blood for testing. He also gave him a shot of prednisone.
The next morning I awakened to terrible cries and my sweet baby was convulsing in pain. This went on the entire time we got to the car and raced back to the vet. They take him from me and the first thing these know-nothings do is TAKE X-RAYS. Doesn't anyone know how to read a Goddamned chart? Then they come out a short time later and inform me that "Little Bear is passing away". WHAT???
Later that day, once I composed myself, called and told them they could cancel the blood tests they took on Saturday. They had the audacity to tell me that "it's too late". The lab they have a contract with is running bloodwork on a SUNDAY? Of COURSE they are! It's all part of the money grab. You have no idea how many times I thought about going back to VCA and smashing the "doctor's" head open along with anything else I could destroy in my path.
POSTSCRIPT: Was sent an email from Yelp that they have received complaints about this review that I posted just four days ago. Gee, I wonder who made those complaints? I understand that they want to cover their Assets but everything I said about the dreadful experience I had with these jokers was absolutely true. It took me several years to be able to talk about one of the worst days of my life. I was SO angry and upset about the way my beloved cat suffered that I seriously considered violently attacking the doctor who executed him. Thankfully, I did not act on my emotions. Not because this man would endure bodily injury but that I would lose my freedom for that act. If I can save just one person and their pet a similar experience, then L'il Bear did not die in vain. Please research any medical facility you are considering and read all the reviews. It will save you heartache and you can avoid money grabs like VCA All Pets Hospice-tal. - Sarah D.Chico, United States392119 Aug 2023
Do NOT take your pet here. I have a brand new puppy and I swear they take advantage of new pet owners to scam you out of money. The fees just for exams are $150 and the cost 2x what they do anywhere else. The service is terrible and I was given recommendations by "vets" that were completely insane - one of my dogs baby teeth isn't falling out so she said he would need all of his top teeth removed and then slammed me with a quote or $5k. Insanity! I also asked for the medical history records printed to bring to my new vet, they failed to remove the "communication notes" section and I was appalled at what they wrote about me - much of which was fabricated or exaggerated. Overall a terrible look on top of a HORRIBLE experience.

Dr. Gilbert is genuinely the best vet we've ever had. She's so through, has wonderful follow up and truly cares about pets. I really like that she's personable, down to earth and doesn't speak to you in a clinical and hard to understand way. I'm writing this after moving from SF to NYC and sorely missing the experience of a top notch vet.
Both our dogs had dentals, which is very scary to a pet owner because they have to be sedated for it. I felt like Dr. Gilbert calmed my nerves about this and was so communicative throughout the process of how they were doing. I couldn't concentrate for the few hours it took because I was so worried, but Dr. Gilbert went above and beyond by calling me several times to updates. You can tell she has such a good heart.
Our Westie had a bad reaction his first time receiving an allergy shot (through no fault of the vet clinic), and they were so on top of treating it swiftly to make sure he was okay.
I also really like that they keep digital records. There's an easy to use app, and it's very easy to get an appointment when you need one. It's easy to see all of their shots and medications and what they'll be due for soon. This was also helpful when we moved to a new vet in NYC - we didn't even have to email to get the records sent. I just clicked a few boxes and sent them to the new vet myself.
We signed both our dogs up for their care club, which made sense for us. They both needed dentals, so the $100 or so you pay per month covers that, unlimited visits, and some of their shots and such. It really worked for us. Unfortunately you cannot transfer it to another practice if you end up moving mid-way through like we did.
The front desk staff can be a bit disorganized at times and we've had a bit of a wait for scheduled appointments, but those are such minor inconveniences. They are all friendly and the waiting room is clean. And the fact that I can call with an issue and be there the same day is worth this and much more.Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

missing one of the most important vital vaccines (bordetella) during a full wellness visit!! really!? while other vaccinations were done that same day and they were all due at the same time! the dog could have seriously gotten sick because of their negligence! Thankfully we found out about this cuz we needed to share the dogs records with a different doctor for his health certification! unbelievably unprofessional- DO NOT RECOMMEND this place, if you have no other choices triple check your dogs vaccination Schedule to make sure they aren't missing anything AND FIND ANOTHER VET/VET HOSPITAL.
staff needs education on how to answer questions including re service dog health certification, and not just make up an answer to send someone away because they happened to call on a very busy day! They won't return urgent voicemails either so don't bother leaving one!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

After years of trusting All Pets Hospital with my pet/best friend's healthcare, I was devastated by the unprofessionalism I witnessed this summer that forced me to find another veterinarian for my pup.
In June of this year, an unauthorized blood panel, cystocentesis (a procedure involving insertion of a needle through the abdominal or bladder wall to obtain a urine sample), and an early/ahead-of-schedule vaccination were administered on my pet against my wishes, without my consent, and contrary to the on-site veterinarian's written and verbal instructions.
A staff member brought my pup out to the lobby and handed me a plastic container stating that they weren't able to get a urine sample, so I'd need to get one and bring it back in. I immediately expressed my confusion and concern to the staff member, stating that I did not authorize that procedure to be administered, and that my pet was only there to receive a routine vaccination. The staff member shrugged me off, provided no clarity, and left the lobby. I sat there with my pet for over five minutes--but felt like an eternity-- with zero staff members at the front desk waiting for an explanation as to what happened. My pup's vet finally came out and informed me that against my wishes and without my consent, they drew blood, administered another vaccination ahead of schedule, and attempted to get a urine sample with a needle via cystocentesis (later resulting in a large, visible bruise on my pup's groin area). The vet stated that even though she gave written and verbal instructions to staff, there was a "computer glitch" that resulted in APH staff members performing these multiple, unauthorized procedures on my pet.
When I returned for a follow-up visit to check on the visible bruise left on my pet's groin area following the unauthorized cystocentesis (Fun Fact: I was initially told this procedure wasn't administered and that they had no idea where the bruise came from, but they later took that back and admitted that the procedure in fact HAD been done, and was indeed responsible for causing the bruise), I (understandably) expressed my concern regarding VCA All Pets' level of care and unprofessionalism based on the fiasco that occurred the last time we were there. I was told that I "need to trust everyone on the team" or "find somewhere else that I can trust".
A professional, empathetic response would have been, "We acknowledge that we really screwed up by performing multiple procedures on your pet against your wishes and against the vet's instructions, so we completely understand that it will take time for you to feel comfortable trusting us with your pet's care going forward-- but we're going to do absolutely anything and everything we can to earn that trust back." But, nah. What I was told was--you can trust us or leave.
I am extremely disappointed by the dangerous and unprofessional actions taken by staff at All Pets. This raises serious concerns regarding VCA APH's internal communication process and its low standards of/lack of commitment to patient care.
Despite mainly using Yelp to leave 5-star reviews to support local businesses, I find it imperative to share this so that other pet owners who consider their dog(s) or cat(s) to be family members like I do hopefully won't have to go through the same horrible experience.Helpful 12Thanks 2Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information
