Egg Blinker, also known as the Egg Blinker Method, is a slang term that describes a weed-smoking technique in which the smoker inhales and holds in multiple "blinker" hits (a technique derived from the blinking button on a dab pen or vape that indicates a longer than standard hit) to the extreme point where the smoker's throat feels like it has an egg inside of it. The Egg Blinker method was first described on TikTok in 2024 and gained memes and reactions across the web thereafter.

Origin

On May 19th, 2024, TikToker^[1] @448smokes posted a video in which he described a dab pen technique called the "egg blinker" that involves hitting five blinkers in rapid succession and then holding it all in for eight seconds. "Egg" refers to the feeling that the smoker gets in their throat after completing the technique, as in, it will feel like there's an egg in their throat. @448smokes said that his friend "Fez" created the technique. Over five days, the video received roughly 4.4 million plays and 581,900 likes (shown below).

On May 20th, TikToker^[1] @448smokes posted a video called "EGG BLINKER EXPLAINED" to his YouTube^[2] channel Ghost General in which he further described the technique. He again alleged that his friend Fez coined "egg blinker." Over four days, the video received over 6,400 views (shown below).

After the original TikTok video went viral, others on TikTok posted content about the Egg Blinker method. For instance, on May 22nd, 2024, TikToker^[3] @3eyed.bull posted a meme about "How the Egg Blinker Method got invented" using a scene from American Psycho, receiving over 82,000 plays and 1,200 likes in two days (shown below, left).

On May 23rd, TikToker^[4] @gasbabyizzyy posted a video with a POV caption reading, "pov: someone tries talking to me after I just tried the egg blinker but I'm trying to figure out if anything is even real," gaining over 745,200 plays and 108,900 likes in a day (shown below, right).

The Egg Blinker method received minor discourse on Reddit ^[5] and X ^[6] in the following days as it garnered more virality in late May 2024.
