The Louisiana Department of Health’s Office of Public Health in Region 1 (New Orleans Metro Area) will hold a Back To School Bash giveaway and health and community resource fair on Saturday, July 27, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Johnny Jacobs Playground, 5851 5th Ave. in Marrero. The event is in partnership with Jefferson Parish and District 3 Councilman Byron Lee. 

The Back To School Bash is open to the public and will feature a backpack and school supplies giveaway and include more than 30 organizations. Services offered at the health fair include health screenings; childhood immunizations; vision and health screenings; nutrition education; Narcan administration and opioid prevention education; information on Medicaid renewals and health insurance marketplace coverage; lead exposure prevention; food boxes and many other resources. Additionally, participants can enjoy kids’ activities. Food will be provided.

The event is free to attend, with school supplies and backpacks available while supplies last. Students must be present to receive supplies and backpacks.
