WARNING: This post contains spoilers from the latest episode of The Walking Dead

Count me among those who thought this week's episode of The Walking Dead was going to be one where the entire group sits around talking about action but not really doing anything. I was wrong.

There were cookies, zombies, some strangely elegant stabbings, gun battles, and even a juicy cliffhanger that probably left you uncomfortably angry at a pregnant lady.

Yes, I admit to being angry at Maggie over what played out in the final minutes of the episode because, dammit, she should have listened to Carol when she told Maggie to stay at home. Instead, Maggie's insistence on accompanying the larger group to invade the Savior compound got both of them captured and now the rest of the group is sort of screwed -- like, I accidentally told someone I loved them screwed.

In the final minutes of the episode, the Saviors put one of their own on a motorcycle and sent him into the group of Alexandrians, who at that point thought they had been victorious, with a message: We got two of your people, so put your weapons down.

This came after a fierce but eerily easy battle to get inside the compound. One second they were meeting in the church about the possibility of invading the Saviors, the next they were at the Saviors' front door where they only had to kill two guards to get inside.

They also got back that Hilltop hostage.

Once inside, Team Alexandria worked their way through the compound quietly plowing knives into the brains of sleeping Saviors. It was rather elegant, really -- and if you thought the same, congratulations on your twisted mind.

Glenn, by the way, took that whole killing a human being thing a little hard. He, apparently, hasn't killed a human yet. I'm having trouble remembering how true that is, but I'll take his word for it for now. I guess I'd just come to accept that they all were killers -- or at least willing to go there.

Ever the team player, though, Glenn made sure his fellow murder virgin, Heath, didn't have to get his hands -- or conscience -- dirty. When it came time for Heath to do one of the Saviors in, Glenn did it for him. How's that for New World friendship? When killing a guy is the equivalent of picking up the tab at Chipotle.

Eventually, Team Alexandria found their way to the Saviors' arsenal and the danger seemed to be over. Of course, it wasn't.

So we're left wondering a few things: 1. How will they get Maggie and Carol back? 2. Are we going to meet leader Negan next week? 3. How the hell are they going to make this storyline stretch out for five more episodes? 4. Is The Walking Dead marketing team going take this opportunity and make some zombie puppet heads? And 5. Will there ever be a moment that tops the comedic gold that is Rick punching the crap out of a zombie head?

Other spare parts:

  • The opening scene song choice -- "Weeds Or Wildflowers" by Parsonsfield -- was perfect.

  • Beet cookies sound disgusting.

  • That Tobin and Carol kiss really seemed to come out of nowhere.

  • Carol left a cookie for Sam, which was half sweet and half really creepy.

  • I felt really bad for Rosita when Abraham broke up with her, especially because of his choice of words. "When I met you I thought you were the last woman on earth. You're not." OUCH.

  • Tara and Denise are so cute it hurts, but Denise telling Tara that she'll tell her she loves her when she comes back from the mission is basically a kiss of death, right?
