TL;DR: A three-year subscription to TunnelBear is on sale for $3.30 per month as of April 16, saving you 67% on list price.

Interest in VPNs has boomed over the last few weeks for a couple of reasons: more people are working from home and entertainment reserves have likely started to dwindle.

VPNs let you connect to the internet through an encrypted data network that protects your data and identity. This is especially useful for remote workers who don't have the security of an office network at the moment. VPNs can also be used to bypass online restrictions to open up a whole new world of content. Basically, these services have never been more useful.

TunnelBear is one of the most popular VPN providers, and that's probably because it's well suited to beginners. This is partly due to its attractive and easy to use interface, but mainly because it's one of the few providers to offer a genuinely free service. You are limited to 500MB of secure browsing with this plan, but this should be more than enough to properly test out TunnelBear.

If you do decide to commit to a paid plan, a three-year subscription is on sale for $3.30 per month as of April 16. This is down by 67% on list price, and includes three years of the RememBear Password Manager for free.
