The celebration of India beating Pakistan in the latest T20 World Cup match is soaring high in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Although low-scoring, the intense match was held at the Nassau County International Stadium, USA, on Sunday, June 9. India defeated Pakistan by six runs despite being temporarily interrupted by rain in the early innings.

In multiple footages circulating on the internet, citizens of the UAE were spotted celebrating India’s victory by hoisting their tri-colour flag on the streets. Visuals of people dancing merrily alongside chanting the “Jai Shree Ram” slogan have surfaced on Twitter.

A collective of Indian supporters gathered in a city square to commemorate the happy moment in one video. While another visual comes from a pub where Indian and Pakistani fans alike celebrated the outcome of the match. “Well it happens only in UAE. When a Pakistani guy wearing a Pakistani t-shirt danced and celebrated on with us,” wrote a user.

Pakistan won the toss and chose to bowl first. When the team in blue entered the pavilion after the delay caused by early rain, they struggled to gain momentum and were dismissed for 119. During the chase, the game turned India’s way as Pakistan fell short after losing consecutive wickets. Indian bowler Jasprit Bumrah made significant breakthroughs by taking 3 wickets for 14 and also bowling 15 dot balls for the team.

After registering their latest victory, team India has been placed at the top of Group A with two consecutive wins in their opening matches. Meanwhile, Pakistan lies with zero points following two defeats.
